A Russian airliner has crashed in central Sinai with more than 200 people on board, the office of Egypt's prime minister has confirmed.
The Airbus A-321 had just left the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, bound for the Russian city of St Petersburg.
Wreckage of the plane has been found in the Hassana area and bodies removed. An official described a "tragic scene".
Flight KGL9268 disappeared from radar screens when travelling at 9,500m (31,000ft), Egyptian officials said.

Those particular “perpetrators” have managed to besiege the US base in the Sinai for some time ... they are also very good at intel.
Hitting them is not a task the Egyptian army is capable of without large losses ... at least so far. The Russian won’t bother, they have other things to do, and are getting closed to being over-extended militarily.
Russia’s main forces are still on the Russia-China border, treaty or not.
Out of range for a MANPADS of any kind. Most of them top out at less than 1/3rd the altitude the airliner was at.
According to the RAF Report the C-130 was flying at a low level, not 30,000 feet.
Maybe a bomb on board in retaliation for Russian activity in Syria?
The first thing on TV is saw was a claim that the plane was “NOT SHOT DOWN”.
So my initial gut instinct tells me it was brought down by American weaponry provided by Hillary and Obama to terrorists they are actively supporting there.
CNN International correspondent Richard Quest is warning about misinformation in initial reporting of this incident. Ironically his own network may be the source of some of it.
“Reuters reporting that rescuers can hear voices of passengers trapped in fuselage.”
Problem is, we’re dealing with Russian and Egyptians/Arabs, none of whom have a record of accuracy or honesty. Not to mention Reuters on top of it.

BREAKING: Egyptian officials say there are no survivors from crash of Russian airliner in Sinai.
It would have to be a super-Manpad from the future to hit something at 30-35 thousand feet.
...
Agreed. More likely it’s a shoe bomber, or some other bomb in the luggage.
Sounds like the plane was shot down. Geez. Here we go.
It was at 33,000 feet. No shoulder launched weapon can reach that height.
Ok. I was reading the info on post 54, warning aircraft to avoid the area.
Kogalymavia airline believes human error wasn't cause of Sinai plane crash, representative tells Russian news agency http://bbc.in/1Wn2S9M
Thanks. Either someone on the plane caused it to crash (bomb) or it was shot down, IMO. Black box has been found, and should shed some light on this tragedy.
Wreckage was found in the Hasana area and bodies removed, along with the plane's “black box”. An official described a “tragic scene” with bodies of victims still strapped to seats.
Dear God, prayers up for the families.
...And we’ll be lucky if we live through it.

The BBC’s Orla Guerin in Cairo says it is likely there will be speculation about militant involvement in the incident - Sinai has an active militant network, with local Jihadis who have allied themselves to so-called Islamic State.
But the aircraft’s altitude suggests that it could not have been struck from the ground, she adds.
Local weather observations in the vicinity of the rescue scene suggest relatively benign conditions.
If the plane was too high for one of Hillary’s manpads maybe sabotage?
The Russians should investigate which muzzies were involved with the planes maintenance.
