A Russian airliner has crashed in central Sinai with more than 200 people on board, the office of Egypt's prime minister has confirmed.
The Airbus A-321 had just left the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, bound for the Russian city of St Petersburg.
Wreckage of the plane has been found in the Hassana area and bodies removed. An official described a "tragic scene".
Flight KGL9268 disappeared from radar screens when travelling at 9,500m (31,000ft), Egyptian officials said.

An airliner flying from Egyptâs Sharm El-Sheikh to St. Petersburg disappeared from radar, a source in the Russian airline regulator told RIA Novosti.
The Airbus belonging to Kogalymavia, a small airline based in Western Siberia, went missing as it was flying over the Sinai Peninsula. Some local media reported that it crashed.

A source in Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia) told RIA Novosti the Kogalymavia Flight 9268 carrying 217 passengeers and 7 crew members took off from Sharm El-Sheikh at 3:31 GMT and vanished from the radars after 23 minutes of flight.
Egyptian president’s office says the plane crashed on BBC Radio 2 News at 8am.

There were conflicting reports about the fate of the plane, some suggesting it had disappeared over Cyprus.
Most of the passengers are said to be Russian tourists.
The plane is operated by the Russian airline Kogalymavia. Latest reports say it is carrying 217 passengers and seven crew.
It would have to be a super-Manpad from the future to hit something at 30-35 thousand feet.
