Hillary Clinton to call for end to cocaine sentencing disparity
MSDNC ^ | 10/30/15 | Alex Seitz-Wald

Fulfilling a longtime wish-list item of criminal justice reformers, Hillary Clinton on Friday will call for ending the sentencing disparity between powder and crack cocaine as part of a larger criminal justice reform plan aimed in part at winning support in the African-American community.

At an event with African-American leaders in Atlanta, Clinton is expected to say that the current system, which doles out far longer prison sentences for crack cocaine than for an equal amount of powder cocaine, is racially discriminatory since African-Americans are more likely to use crack.

“Pander-pander-pander” when a GOP does something his base wants

“fulfilling a long time wish” when a Dem does it.

100 million unemployed or underemployed and Hillary thinks the big issue is crack or powdered cocaine sentencing?

Just what we need, more crack on the streets.

The disparity was put into place because a much lower weight of crack has the same potency as powdered cocaine. As a result crack dealers were getting light sentences as by powdered cocaine standards, the weight they were busted with was misdemeanor level.

And all speeding citations should have the same punishment - whether one is going 5 MPH over on the highway or 40 MPH over in a school zone.....because more Blacks are likely to be speeding through populated areas while running from the cops.

Can't believe how it's invariably the Dems that use the racist assumption that we need to take it easier on certain crimes because Blacks 'just can't help themselves"...

Want to ensure Hillary doesn't follow Obama to the WH? Donate money to useful enterprises like your favorite conservative candidate and to FR.

Now for a short public service announcement to all on FR:
I prefer Cruz and my money goes to his campaign, hence the Cruz link. If you like someone else, donate to him/her (find your own link to do it) and if you use FR and don't donate, then please don't complain about the welfare leeches or those who have Obama Phones because, functionally, you are no different than any other FReeloader.....

GO CRUZ!! Keep it up Trump!!

Those laws went into effect to protect black communities from crack. Now they want them eliminated because too many black people get caught breaking them. A lot of people forget the violence associated with the late 80’s/early 90’s crack wars.

A general question: Has the “crack epidemic” burned itself out? Some years ago, crack houses, crack ho’s, crack horror stories... they were everywhere. I’ve heard a lot less of them lately.

Has the popularity of crack dropped? Or is collective media interest just focused somewhere else?

I feel the same about the trendiness of pro-marijuana legislation. The libertarian in me says, "leave it up to the states," but the adult in me says, "there's more to life than being stoned on weed, and the issue is very low in terms of priorities."

Hell, to make up for the scourge of slavery, why doesn’t the US just exempt Blacks from all current and future laws.

Oh, wait . . .

Any one remember Lynn Bias? The greater sentences for crack were the result of black politicians being pressured to do something to halt the epidemic of crack deaths after Bias died from it.

Actually, I would not mind at all if yuppies doing blow would serve the same sentences that pushers of crack do? Start hitting the users and the sellers will dry up.

Democrat delusions:

BAD: Hot dogs, cigarettes, morality, Christianity, guns, trans fats, Constitution, Founding Fathers, American Flag, financial success

GOOD: Pot, Cocaine, sodomy, Islam, Government power, Rainbow Flag, financial failure

We could do this all day long. They are nuts.
