The determination, published by a panel of researchers for the International Agency for Research on Cancer in a medical journal Monday, classifies processed meat products like salami and bacon carcinogenic to humans, the strongest level of risk for cancer, and a category shared with tobacco smoke and diesel engine exhaust.

I will not give up my bacon+tomato+spinach+onion+avocado sandwich with mayo any time soon.
Salt pork/Fatback was a regularly issued ration item to both armies during the War Between the States, particularly during active campaigns.
Ominously, not a single soldier who served on either the Northern or Southern side is alive today.
Hillary is going to wear a warning label?
My thought as well. There just has to be a political agenda at work here.
Another pound of bacon goes on my grocery list. I’ve been eating bacon daily in response to these politicized pseudo-science pronouncements, but I cannot keep up with the activists because I also buy more every time I read the nonsense.
Ever wrap a chicken in bacon to cook it? A cheaper cut of steak? Bacon in salad is a given. And the last of this year’s garden tomatoes are going into BLTs, of course.
9.5 out of 10 Muslims surveyed said Bacon is carcinogenic.
Muslims don’t force anybody to do anything. It’s just that cowards and weaklings are inclined to roll over and give in. I’ve got guns, ammo, beer and bacon. Come and get some!!!
Hell, I’ve been eating bacon almost my entire life. I’ll be 65 on my next birthday, so I’m not giving it up. I mean, no one gets out of here alive, do they? May as well enjoy oneself.
Ironic, no?
Yeah, waiting for 0bozo to write an EO banning pork in the US. Grab the popcorn and sit back.
The report I heard said colorectal.
They didn’t mention that birth control pills are in the same category as cigarettes But they are
Oh I’m sure this has very little to do with bacon or science and EVERYTHING to do with climate change and moslems.
WHO indeed.
On a side note, once, a couple of years ago, for dinner I made a full plate of bacon with melted cheddar on top and a Heinekin. I still think about that.
Aside from an army of PC pants-wetters, the world breathes a collective sigh of utter indifference.
Just did a poll for YouGov. Most of the questions were about smart phones except for the very last which asked: “Do you think processed meats such as bacon and ham increase your opportunity to have cancer?”. Yes or no wasn’t an option, all hedging answers so answered the one most linked to no.
Didn’t take them long to get on this bandwagon.
The World Health Organization?
This is the same WHO that did the HUGE second hand smoke study years ago? The one that completely disproved their assertions, so the quashed the results?
THAT World Health Organization?
According to some local radio news reporting I heard today, the increase in risk is 18%. That’s an 18% increase of the 5% baseline risk for developing colorectal cancer during one’s lifetime. So the actual increase in risk goes from 5% to about 6%.
As usual, MSM will report an increase as a percentage without applying it to the baseline rate to give a true picture of the issue/problem. It’s all about the hype.
I don’t want to be a chicken little but this is probably more significant than some of us might think.
Can you say grounds for class action law suit? In 5, 4, 3, 2
Wait for it. It will come. Some money grubbing pettifogging lawyer is working on it right this very minute.
