Ted Cruz 'would love' to host 'SNL'

Sen. Ted Cruz (Texas) says he “would love” to pull a Donald Trump and host “Saturday Night Live.”

“Absolutely. I would love to do it. I grew up watching ‘SNL’ as a kid,” the GOP presidential candidate told C-SPAN’s Steve Scully during a Friday call-in program on the network.

“I think their political satire is hysterical,” Cruz, 44, said of NBC’s late-night sketch comedy show.

Cruz also gave kudos to cast member Kate McKinnon, who plays a power-hungry version of Democratic White House hopeful Hillary Clinton on the show.

“By the way, the actress they have playing Hillary has her dead-on,” Cruz said.

Cruz also added his voice to the chorus of acclaim for “Curb Your Enthusiasm” star Larry David’s recent impression of Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) on the show.

“I will tell you, I told Bernie Sanders just the other day, you know, I called him ‘Larry’ for Larry David because, oh my goodness, Larry David’s performance — that was Bernie,” Cruz exclaimed. “He has captured him perfectly.”

Clinton appeared in a skit earlier this month. Trump, the current GOP front-runner, is scheduled to host “SNL” on Nov. 7.

Cruz, who reiterated he’d “love to have the chance to” host, predicted Trump would “knock it out of the park” during his appearance.

Fellow GOP presidential candidate Ben Carson said Friday that, unlike Trump, he has no interest in going live from New York on “SNL.”

“I think the presidency of the United States is a very serious thing,” the retired neurosurgeon said in an interview with Bloomberg Politics. “I don’t even want to begin to put it in the lightness of comedy.”

I don’t know. SNL will burnish Trump,
but, pace Sarah Palin, they could do
a real number on Cruz.

Not sure how funny the SNL audience would find a lecture on the Full Faith and Credit clause.

I don’t have faith he has people who know the extent to which they are the ENEMY. I think he blew it on kolbert— I have little faith he would shine on SNL.

Do not think it’s a good idea for Ted Cruz to go on SNL.

Have you seen the video of Donald Reagan with Johnny Carson in 1974 ?

Reagan could have been speaking of today’s world.

At the time, it seemed that going on Laugh-In really helped RMN.

“Sock it to... me?”

Pretty amazing show in retrospect. Who would have imagined that one of their comediennes would go on to serve on the USSC?

Here's some advice Ted. I never thought you would need it because I figured you were smart enough to see this on your own.

Be quiet about this until after they've let Trump do it, and then threaten the network with a "contribution in kind" charge through the Federal Election Commission, and you will have them in a legal headlock to FORCE them to let you host the show.

More importantly, you will establish the precedent that the Left wing Media entertainment shows *ARE* political "in kind" contributions in violation of election law.

You will give us the legal opening necessary to take a sledge hammer to media bias. Once you establish their "shows" as equivalent to political speech, we can demand equal access to their vast network of speech distribution systems, otherwise known as studios, cameras, microphones, transmitters, and satellites.

Don't screw this up Ted.
