Rubio gives up on Senate: ‘He hates it’
Washington Post ^ | 10/25/2015 | David A. Fahrenthold

Marco Rubio is a U.S. senator. And he just can’t stand it anymore.

“I don’t know that ‘hate’ is the right word,” Rubio said in an interview. “I’m frustrated.”

This year, as Rubio runs for president, he has cast the Senate — the very place that cemented him as a national politician — as a place he’s given up on, after less than one term. It’s too slow. Too rule-bound. So Rubio, 44, has decided not to run for his seat again. It’s the White House or bust.

“That’s why I’m missing votes. Because I am leaving the Senate. I am not running for reelection,” Rubio said in the last Republican debate, after Donald Trump had mocked him for his unusual number of absences during Senate votes.

Five years ago, Rubio arrived with a potential that thrilled Republicans. He was young, ambitious, charismatic, fluent in English and Spanish, and beloved by the establishment and the tea party.

So. Isn’t he a first generation offspring of a Cuban immigrant? You know. The ones that are supposed to feel the heartbeat of the freedom and promise of America because of its boundless energy and opportunity, its rigor in following the protections and privileges that come with the ‘contract’ we call the Constitution?

So what is this ‘giving up?’ He has to be there and vote once in a while? He doesn’t get his way? People don’t like him because he wants 20-50 million illegals to get citizenship? What is it? What’s that burr up his butt?

I don’t give a rat’s patootie who he makes a deal with to be VP if he can’t win the nomination outright.

I remember four dates:

April 12, 1945
November 22, 1963
August 9, 1974
March 30, 1981

They are the reason I will NEVER vote for anyone with Rubio on their ticket.

Yes, the only reason to vote is because you like the Senate. It has nothing whatsoever to do with representing the people and your ideals.

What a maroon!

So Rubio is saying he doesn’t enjoy being a politician.

He’s only interested in being the king/dictator?

What an idiot!

Being a U.S. Senator is the greatest job in the World. There are only 100 of them, yet even politically savvy people can name only a few no more than a dozen or so.

They are immensely powerful and treated like kings.

It is all but impossible to remove one from office. Most serve decades.

They make over $180,000 a year plus all they can steal!

I hesitate to back anyone of them who would run for President. Even Cruz, whom I greatly admire and do support.

The fact is that anyone who is senator and desires to become president should immediately be taken to a mental hospital and confined for their own safety until the feeling passes.

What an admission of dereliction of duty.

Is he going to be a paid lobbyist for illegal invader amnesty or just work on it for free as a minion of Chuck Schumer?

“And they’d have to sellout to assure a job for life after politics. So, they’d sell out even faster.”

So much for that old adage about public service or to serve being a noble profession.

So when he gets tired of being president, is he going to check out on that too? Play golf all day while the country and world burns like O is doing?

Good point.

If you’re as lazy as Rubio, the Senate is a sweet gig.
