ARE YOU crazy about Barack Obama? Do you fervently hope the next president of the United States will be as similar to the current president as possible?
Then Donald Trump may be the candidate for you.
Of all the candidates running for president, the one who most resembles the incumbent is not Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders or Martin O'Malley. To be sure, the Democrats' policy views largely overlap with Obama's. But when it comes to attitude and self-image, it's Obama and Trump who are birds of a feather.
Everyone knows about Donald Trump's bottomless narcissism; this is a man who has affixed the name "Trump" to everything from hotels to golf courses to cologne. Asked the other day which world leaders he would reach out to upon being elected, Trump replied that he wouldn't need to call anyone: "I think I'd probably have them call me."
But Obama's march to the White House also involved startling displays of self-glorification, from Greek-style columns to a triumphal foreign tour to his own official seal (complete with Latin motto). From the earliest days of his presidency, it was clear that Obama was deeply enamored of himself, and had no doubt that the rest of the planet was just as smitten. "I am well aware," he told the UN General Assembly, "of the expectations that accompany my presidency around the world." He gifted the queen of England with an iPod that included his own speeches. Obama's addiction to the first-person singular pronoun — "I," "me," "my" — has been remarked on by many; he has even referred to "my military" and the troops "fighting on my behalf."
Anyone who finds such vanity attractive should relish the prospect of a Trump presidency. Trump, after all, never doubts his own brilliance. He's always the smartest person in the room; just ask him. Sound familiar?
"I'm a better speechwriter than my speechwriters," Obama told campaign aides in 2008. "I know more about policies on any particular issue than my policy directors. And I'll tell you right now that I'm gonna think I'm a better political director than my political director."
When a presidential candidate talks that way, what could possibly go wrong?
As are their... Mmm, Mmm, Mmm... fans.
Yes We Can! Yes We Can! Yes We Can!
That’s like saying Cruz and Obama are no different because they are both first-tern senators with law degrees.
There needs to be a flight plan for a Cruz cruise, if it is going to happen... it does NOT stop with the vote in November. That’s the takeoff time. Now he might know everything about where to go, but what if he has no experience flying a plane of any kind, let alone the super jumbo jet. If one were to be dead set on that, I would suggest getting an executive support committee for Cruz lined up well, well ahead of time.
Trump has more substance to boast about what he can do. He is a negotiator par excellence and therein comes the big, big opportunity for the American people. If they want a set and forget president, Trump isn’t it.
Trump built and paid for his hotels.
Obama had US pay for his “Greek-style columns to a triumphal foreign tour to his own official seal”
Those with stock in Styrofoam made a killing :-)
Yeah, he inherited tens of millions, and then when he was broke, he borrowed tens of millions more from his siblhings. He chose his family well.
You sure must have tomatoes in front of your eyes if you can’t see 0bama’s ego.
A “self-made” who inherited tens of millions. Lol.
So we don’t have a plaster success story. He had to learn and work — and in doing so he got from the millions to the billions.
That’s the story of most of us too. Have we looked at what our families invested in us? We might be shocked, even if it never entailed formally asking for money afterwards.
Let’s chuck um out and look for the one with the silver spoon marked “President.” /sarc
So 1% of his worth today, represents what he inherited. So please tell us, what do you think of the other 99%?
This Trump thing is GREAT! Whether you like him or not, he's forcing the Uniparty and its media operatives out into the open.
Flawed job though it is (and we all know the gaffes) he still is doing almost an infinitely better job of illustrating what caring about America looks like.
Trump’s grandiose fantasies are more realistic and less delusional than Hussein’s
When the day comes, the people will be without excuse.
What is really ridiculous on the part of the writer of the article at the top of this thread, is that he thinks the issue with respect to Obama, is Obama's ego. The issue with Obama is his lifelong hatred of the settler, multi-generational culture & heritage of those who founded America. Trump epitomizes the American answer to that Quisling like betrayal.
OK, damnation by faint praise :-)
Also he stands in a better position to see his dream realized.
People have not absorbed the full impact of what “negotiator” means. Some conservatives have stepped up to the plate and conferred with Trump. Their ideas have showed up in Trump’s proposals. Also (and I have long said this before Trump stepped up) a fair plebiscite would probably get you a more conservative outcome than our current evil government 99% of the time. Trump is looking like the picture of that fair plebiscite.
Yes, in principle, lefties could get in there and do the same thing. However in practice they are far more allergic to Trump than righties are.
I say make hay while the sun shines.
God Bless Donald Trump!
The whole ego thing is TRUMPS trademark, just like RUSHS One hand tied behind my back persona.

The greatest thing in a TRUE leader is self confidence.
When Eisenhower asked how long it would take to get to Bastogne to relieve the 101st, Patton said “Three Days,” and everybody scoffed and didn’t believe him. Everybody knows how long it took him.
I agree with God bless, which at least in his spiritually clumsy way Trump would agree to, on top of his excellent negotiation and management skills.
Obama went to the “God curse America” school. When he tried to negotiate and manage anything, he tried to twist communities around the little finger of rabid liberalism disguising itself as a fount of blessing. Ptui! even at the thought.
