Sales of diet Pepsi have plunged after the soft drink company behind it changed the recipe.
In a case with echoes of Cokes disastrous introduction of New Coke, Pepsi has faced a huge backlash after replacing the sweetener in the drink. Pepsi chose to remove the controversial sweetener aspartame - linked to cancer in some studies - with sucralose.
But customers arent happy. David Zimdars of Michigan said, It has a nasty aftertaste, and its sickly sweet. You have to wash it out with water.'
Pepsis choice of sucralose - known by the brand name Splenda - has been blasted online, with many consumers describing it as, Yukky.
In the month after the new recipe was introduced, sales of Pepsicos diet drinks dropped 6.6%.

“They managed to make it taste worse?! Thats quite the feat”
I agree. I love regular Pepsi, can’t stand diet Pepsi. I can drink Pepsi Next but can’t find it anymore.
They are NOT using stem cells in the syrup. They’re used in testing the flavors, but never actually wind up in the product. Still worthy to boycott if you want, but boycotts should be fact based.
I’m a died in the wool Pepper. And the weird gourmet sodas you’ll find at World Market, which is an expensive hobby, but tasty.
“{Aspartame} in diet soda is very bad for people. Drink beer -tried and tested for thousands of years”.
LOL You’re right.
Gross isn’t it. I believe I read that the Chinese (what a shock) were selling Pepsi the ingredients for the syrup and were using baby’s stem cells to enhance the taste. It does not get any grosser than that. I get nauseous looking at a Pepsi bottle.
So, a bunch of soccer mom types threw a temper tantrum and got Pepsi to change the recipe because some other soccer mom read something on Facebook that sounded scary and threw a temper tantrum.
Also not true. Yes Smithfield was bought by the Chinese, TWO YEARS AGO. No they are not sending hogs to China for slaughtering because they’re not bleeding morons.
So then forget the diet pepsi and drink water! Sheesh, have people seen what happens when you take any diet soda and boil it down?
Trust me when I tell you that you do NOT want to drink that crap!
We were driving at night, so I had coffee and a six pack of Jolt Cola in the car. Stupid me, I drank six cans of Jolt Cola in about three hours.
Somewhere in Ohio along the turnpike I thought I was having a heart attack and pulled over to the side of the road around 2am.
Never touched that stuff again, and you can't pay me to drink one of the so-called "energy" drinks either. Learned my lesson!
Having had a case of aspertame poisoning (vertigo was primary symptom), just the thought of drinking/eating anything with aspertame in it almost makes my head spin. I read labels VERY carefully now.

You are going to make one hellofa heathy corpse.
” finding out they are using babys stem cells in the syrup. “
Educate yourself. That’s not true.
Good. I hope they start drinking water. No Sugar. No artificial ingredients
I only buy store brands now.
I’m mostly drinking club soda with flavoring, limeade, coffee, tea or white wine.
I read that that is used to test flavoring in almost all prepared foods.
Doritos even. Orange juice, oatmeal.
Unbelievable.
Disgusting.
Apparently they should change the name to auto INcorrect!
They made it suck even more?
Coke was way better when it came in the green glass bottle years ago.
The article was on FR or Drudge a couple of days ago. I read it. The pigs will be processed and packaged in China and then sent back here to be sold to us idiots. It sounds bizarre but true. The labeling will say raised in the US.
You better watch out for your favorite chicken nuggets also as the the raw chickens will be and I think already are allowed to be sent to China and then processed into chicken nuggets and sent back here for consumption. We stopped eating chicken nuggets.
We don’t anything that’s from China or been to China. All of the labeling is soon going to be deceptive. At some point we will have to start raising our own food or risk eating food that is risky.
