Sales of diet Pepsi have plunged after the soft drink company behind it changed the recipe.
In a case with echoes of Cokes disastrous introduction of New Coke, Pepsi has faced a huge backlash after replacing the sweetener in the drink. Pepsi chose to remove the controversial sweetener aspartame - linked to cancer in some studies - with sucralose.
But customers arent happy. David Zimdars of Michigan said, It has a nasty aftertaste, and its sickly sweet. You have to wash it out with water.'
Pepsis choice of sucralose - known by the brand name Splenda - has been blasted online, with many consumers describing it as, Yukky.
In the month after the new recipe was introduced, sales of Pepsicos diet drinks dropped 6.6%.

Actually I think the ones we got out of a machine for a nickle were a lot shorter and the glass was thicker. When I was small and lived on a farm in Kansas my grandpa used to send me the Sunday funnies from Exeter, Nebraska every week in the mail. Wrapped up inside were two dimes. Neighbor girl and I would wait for the mailman to come and then walk 2 1/2 miles to the nearest gas station and little store. Spent my 20 cents on 2 Cokes and 2 packs of Black Jack or Clove gum. Store owner didn’t charge us 4 cents deposit on the bottles because he knew we would return them the next week.
Probably should have kept all the dimes. They would probably be worth a lot more than 10 cents each now. Great childhood memory.
I use BetterStevia from NOW. No other additives but a little dab’ll do ya.
They started selling Diet Coke with Splenda just a few months (IIRC) before they started selling Coke Zero. Almost overnight, DC with Splenda almost disappeared, as they had a huge marketing campaign for Coke Zero. I just saw it for the first time in I don’t know how long a couple weeks ago and bought two 12 packs. Very similar to Coke Zero, but definitely a bit better.
I remember having Milk and Eggs delivered to our doorstep.”
When my kids were teenagers and we lived in the suburbs, we had the Manor Man who delivered milk, eggs, butter and the best cinnamon rolls every Wednesday. Milk did come in glass bottles and we always washed them out and left them for pick-up on the front step when he made his delivery. Now we have Schwann’s but they don’t have the dairy products, just food and it’s a whole lot more expensive.

Bring back Cyclamates! They were a lot better than anything that’s followed, but were banned by Nixon administration based on famously junk science. Most of the world has it, but not the US.
Anyone remember TAB? You might as well hit yourself in the head with a hammer. Dieting women used to drink it. I guess dieting alone wasn’t bad enough.
I would agree.
However, things these days are not what they seem, and logic is being thrown out the window.
Do we take crude oil from the US, ship it overseas to have it refined, and then buy it back ?
P.S. In my original comment, I should have said “Is it possible” instead of “It is more likely”.
Yuk. Fizzy drinks with sucradeath? Sounds vaguely communistic to me.
Try a healthy, fizzy drink that conservatives everywhere like: BEER!
Now I won't buy the diet until I read that they've recanted.

I drink Pepsi Max all the time......did that change too? If so I haven’t noticed. I prefer Splenda to aspartame anyway.
Oh gross! And you just know they would do it. :-)
Sum Ting Wong. :-)
Stay thirsty my friend. :=)
Lol. I dunno. I have two cokes a year. They taste so good to me that I HAVE to limit myself to that few. They open a wellspring of hunger in me and I eat like a hog when I have a coke.
And it was invented/marketed as a hangover cure. And it would have been very good at that!
Vernor;s!
i did a search on the butterball halal thing, it seems they haven’t been halal since 2012.
