Ted Cruz won because Sarah Palin came to Texas and campaigned for him. With Sarah Palin David Dewhurst would be our junior senator.

No, Ted Cruz won because he had offices/workers in every county in Texas who contacted individual voters and got them to the polls.
Palin was around just before the election, in fact the day before, and was in my county with Cruz. I doubt many voters saw that, just the ones at the gathering and those voters, at that late time, were his voters already. When Palin and husband left that gathering, they went inside a Chick Fil A in my county and had lunch.
Cruz is running this national election the same way he did in Texas to become senator - offices in every county and election workers in those counties. So far, there are offices/workers in over 20 states and in one US possession, think it is Puerto Rico but I could have that name wrong.
