In the private meeting inside the House Ways and Means Committee hearing room in the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday afternoon, chairman Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) promised the House Freedom Caucus the world to try to earn their official endorsement. He failed.
Among the things that Ryan promised the members were a return to regular order, changes to the steering committee that decides committee assignments centralizing power in the Speaker’s office—Ryan even promised to give up the Speaker’s five votes on the committee—and an end to retaliation against Republican members who vote their conscience.
He reiterated his promise made in the full GOP conference on Tuesday of no amnesty bill under President Obama—which conspicuously did not extend to the next president—and an end to crisis-to-crisis governance under outgoing Speaker Rep. John Boehner (R-OH). He also promised more “regional representation” rather than representation centralized in the Speaker’s office.

Why did they bother getting rid of Boehner? I pray that this lefty corporate man finds that his bread is buttered on the conservative side.

But, my point is that if there is someone who wants to resist Paul's demands, they must convince Paul that they don't need Paul. And, they can only convince Paul that they don't need Paul by convincing Paul that they have an alternative. It's not that I like it, it's just the way it is.
He came out clearly and honesty and said he wont take the job unless the freedom Caucus accepts his demands.
If this post is true and they really give into him just so he doesn't walk away, then who are the real cowards and whores?

Where is Ted Cruz on this?? He has never been shy about telling the house what to do before. Why isnt he over there again rallying opposition to Ryan?

He failed to get 80% for an official endorsement but did got quote a "supermajority" so I guess they bought his "bill of goods". They must be RINOs. There are only 3 or 4 real conservatives in the House, like Justin Amash, the Paulbot who loves Palestinians.
If Ryan performs as Harry Reid and probably most of us here expect him to perform then the House will be overwhelmingly Democrat after the next elections and the Senate will be veto-proof Democrat. The Federal Judges will be almost all communists and moslems by the end of the next presidential term because the Senate will let only such through and the President, if Republican will nominate nobodies like Kennedy and Souter or leftists just to get seats filled.
Reagan gained a large number of House seats in 1980. If Trump (or any Republican) wins at all, nothing more than slight House loses are possible. History proves this. Trump winning while his party loses a large majority is so preposterous it needs a new word to describe the level of ridiculousness.
If you think this Speaker thing means a damn for the House elections, you’re wrong. People don’t even know who the Speaker is.

For all you Ryan bashers, where are your more conservative boys? You know where? They couldn’t get elected or hold on to their seats in Congress, is where. Ryan did, and is probably the best were going to get. Don’t like that? Welcome to reality, the House is not dominated by conservatives.
Ryan tried to cut vet benefits, enabled Obama TPA/TPP, campaigns for open borders/amnesty, does bloated budget deals, etc. If that’s the “best” we can do the GOP is dead. Ryan is a progressive K Street GOPer who has no interest in representing Main Street. Cheer him & his progressive policies all you want. I won’t be.
they already said a “super majority” of the Freedom Caucus will vote for Ryan. What they didn’t like about Boehner was his crying. Ryan won’t cry.
Well that is ok for now, but soon everything he says, writes, Promises etc will be kept and cataloged with many other “Telemetric Data indicators”

Conservatives will vote for Trump. Why should they vote for those Republican creeps who become de facto Democrats as soon as they are safely elected? It is not as if folks expect anything different any more. If Ryan doesn’t suprprise the hell out of me and do good conservative work there won’t be more than a dozen Representatives that will be worth voting for. If the Congressional republicans continue as the are I expect a large majority of Democrat Representatives and 65 Senators to face the new President whoever he may be.
This being a conservative site, we want a conservative speaker.
