A Serious Question for the Trump Supporters
Red State ^ | October 21, 2015 | Leon H. Wolf

Posted on 10/21/2015 2:08:43 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

I have a serious question for the Trump supporters, and I hope they will be able to answer it, at least to themselves. It is a question that every supporter of every candidate should be able to answer if they consider themselves a thinking voter instead of a mindless, drooling sports fan. The question is this:

What, hypothetically, would Trump have to do or say to cause you to stop supporting him?

SNIP

............It’s supposed to matter what candidates think, do, and say. There should be a point with literally every candidate where something they have done would push us over the edge to the point that we wouldn’t support them anymore.

SNIP

The big lie in this article is the author’s gloss-over and discounting of why some, many, most(?) supporters support him. The author totally pooh-poohs the possibility that we have been driven to him by our own Republican Establishment.”””

AMEN
Michael Steele bankrupted the RNC. McCain is totally beyond repair & the ESTABLISHMENT Republicans continue to support him. Hatch is out of touch with all of America.

No one in the entire Republican party seems to be supporting Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who has one of the toughest counties in the USA to uphold law & order. IF they cannot unite behind such a solid person, why should I support them?

Trump is realizing there is a severe undercurrent of discontent in this country. We may not be very wealthy, but we have worked at our lives & taken care of ourselves for over 50 years. Now, we are being shoved to the curb & thrown under the ‘medical care not available bus’.

‘Citizens’ (ILLEGALS) are being given free medical care at our expense thru tax dollars & we cannot even find a general physician to get a checkup or solve something that is bothering us. With a bout of Shingles, it was my chiropractor who finally figured out what was causing me such discomfort. I had no blisters-—but I had Shingles.

This country needs a real business person to run the Federal government & to SHUT DOWN the redundancy & over payment which is rampant in the Federal government. We have so many agencies & programs which are overlapping or complete duplication that Trump can shut down it is a crime. NO BUSINESS can operate with this same kind of structure. However, the bloated pig that the Federal government has become needs to be seriously trimmed.

Turning Forest Rangers into SWAT teams with heavily armed teams is just plain wrong. IF they are so effective & needed, someone needs to tell me how come so many illegals are still occupying our National Forests with their live-in camps & marijuana groves. There is where armed rangers need to be.

NOT AT CLIVEN BUNDY’S RANCH KILLING HIS CATTLE.

Trump out his own money on the line. Jeb Bush rounded up pledges of over $100 million before he announced. How much money of his own is Jeb spending???

I read that just the way you wrote it, but I am having a hard time understanding ho 30 million American citizens will be violated by deporting however many million wet backs are in the country.

Well, well, well, we finally have an admission that you don't understand what you are talking about. I'll give you an example of such a potential violation of Constitutional rights belonging to citizens of the US: e-Verify represents a Federal permit to work imposed upon every US citizen in the name of forcing out illegals. There is no such Constitutional power for a work permit. Now, before you go screaming, "But that would work," imagine what Barack Obama would do with such power. It is a program that is ripe for abuse, discriminatory against small business, and clearly unconstitutional.

Trump says he wants to let "the good ones" back in. Pray tell, what makes them "good"? Virtually all illegals broke the law to get here or overstay their visas, and/or are using fake documents such as Social Security Cards or Driver Licenses. Those are crimes. Will the our mass employer of busboys, groundskeepers, maids, and construction laborers forgive those C-R-I-M-E-S? That would be amnesty.

You bet he will. He says those criminals are "wonderful people." Just ask him (and if you want a source for that quote, I've already provided it).

I see my mistake. Missed the quotation marks without the old reading glasses. However, I stand by my point. Trump at 70 is still an old time New Deal Democrat. Unfortunately for me, a small government conservative, my time seems to have past. Instead of lashing out at everyone and denying the decline in the appeal of my position, I prefer truthfulness over self deception. Instead of ignoring the facts, I understand now that most people, liberal and conservative, want big government. The Trump supporters are cut the other guys freebies, leave mine alone conservatives. And guess what, they are the majority of conservatives. Us small government types will be wandering the wilderness for the next couple of decades, just hope we get out of the woods before the end of the century, if there is anything left to save.

What in the hell are you blathering about?

I have an idea: If you are an illegal and you help build the wall, you can stay. But only the first 1,000,000 and only if you have a clean criminal record.

Result: Wall complete with big beautiful door in about 2 weeks. Have you ever seen Mexicans do yard work? Magnificent!

Who is your choice for President, BTW?

What in the hell are you blathering about?

Article I, Section 8. Read it some time. See if you can find an enumerated power governing private contracts for employment.

Who is your choice for President, BTW?

I don't have one. Cruz is close but he'll have to do better on TPP and he should have backed Lee on the Iran vote, but Trump is an obvious fraud.

According to some, evangelicals are at fault for abortion because they put principles over “winning” at any cost.

What about my idea? You have to admit that is a tremendous deal for the lucky 1,000,000. Plus, to get chosen you have to register yourself for verification. Voila! Now we know where they are and can line up the buses and trains accordingly.

Pity no one meets your high standards. I bet you would make a good president. You seem to know your stuff.

Read the Fifth Commandment in context! Morality is morality. But every people owe allegiance to their own families, communities, and heritages. What do you think the purpose of the Preamble to the Constitution, which talks to the Founders posterity, is in relation to the oaths that most of us have taken to preserve the Constitutional purpose.

The greatest problem of America in recent years, more of a problem than any one program, is a breakdown in the sense of community, State & American continuity--loyalty. Most of our problems flow directly from that breakdown. The Federal encroachment on local culture, social options (education, health care, housing, employment, legislative apportionment). etc., all have succeeded in part because of that breakdown.

Politics as we used to know it has changed in this election cycle.

People, it seems, are finally fed up with the Professional Politician that does nothing, has made more promises than be kept, and does not heed the will of those who elected them.

Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Jeb Bush, and the rest of the field, with three exception, are all professional politicians that failed us, and failed badly. None of them have any clue as to what to do, therefore why support them.

Way too many people, mostly those inside the Beltway, are in a state of shock because all those leading on the Republican side are those that have never held elective office. The is no qualification in the Constitution that anyone running for President have held political office, but that seems to the be rub for those wanting an establishment candidate.

We are at the tripping point in this country and I believe that Millions of People see this and are willing to take a chance on Donald Trump. Can he really do any worse than what we have had? I think the real answer is no.

Trump ,for all that he is, speaks a truth that all of us are thinking. So we are going to support Trump all the way, regardless.

If Trump is no the nominee and we end up with a Cruz, Rubio, or Bush, then you can count on Millions of us to stay home and not vote. For myself I will simply write in “None of the Above” and call it a day because nothing will change with whoever gets in and the collapse will come soon enough.

Seen it before, many times. It's fine but for the fact that fence construction is strongly mechanized. I'd set them to cleaning up the trash the migrants have left behind, as it involves a massive biohazard.

I bet you would make a good president. You seem to know your stuff.

I'm not a professional a$$-kisser and schmoozer so I'd be terrible at it. I should be teaching candidates how to deal with thorny issues, particularly environmental policy.

The author totally pooh-poohs the possibility that we have been driven to him by our own Republican Establishment.

Not being part of any herd, I much prefer not to be ""driven"" to supporting a candidate. Especially a candidate that just four years ago supported Hillary For President. I'm no Trump hater, but I am also not a Trump supporter. I want Ted Cruz to be the next president. And to my knowledge, Cruz has never donated to or supported ANY Democrat (like Harry Reid, Chucky Schumer, Hillary and Patty Murray).

www.campaignmoney.com

Additionally, Trump is either dishonest, or politically myopic re: blaming Bush for the 2008 economic meltdown. He fails (or refuses) to even acknowledge the Democrats' role in that meltdown, as they controlled both houses of Congress and had for two years, and as they also consistently tried to "talk down" Bush's economy until they finally succeeded in tanking it.

www.powerlineblogy.com

I don't trust him. Aside from his intellectual dishonesty, he has a hot temper and a nasty, petty disposition when crossed...much like the current CIC. Not qualities one wants in a President/CIC.

I am not going to be “driven” to not support a candidate because others have something else in mind not corresponding to what I want.

That said, myopic, dishonest or whatever, especially with regard to W being ‘responsible’ for a financial meltdown is a matter of perspective. No, he’s not directly responsible, but there was a hell of a lot, I repeat a HELL of a lot he could have done. Just look back at the last six and a half years and see what Obama has done with no Congressional support.

I submit all the hijinks of Barney Frank and Maxine Waters on the finance committee even when they were giving Jaime Gorelick, Franklin Raines and Jim Johnson of Freddie and Fannie millions of dollars in bonuses when they FORCED banks to give away billions (trillions?)in worthless loans never to be paid back to people who had no business owning a home because they fit a Democrat profile.

Bush could have vetoed the spending bills - JUST LIKE OBAMA - take the bully pulpit and call these scoundrels out. BUSH DID NOTHING. He ‘respected’ the office too much to get down and dirty. He even ‘respected’ it enough to have not said a damn word about Obama in 6.5 years. But that didn’t stop him last week in trashing Cruz in Colorado for his doggone throwback brother.

Trust? It’s early to tell on Trump IMO. Trust? I ‘trusted’ Bush - TWICE. I got Obama and I got the DHS and the TSA and a devastated retirement fund because of it. Don’t even try to tell me he’s not culpable and sacrosanct. He’s just another Bush now.

What is a Cruz birther? Everyone know Ted Cruz was born in Canada and just recently (2013) gave up his Canadian citizenship.
