When Donald Trump Quits
Politico ^ | 1 | Ben Schreckinger

Posted on 10/18/2015 10:08:33 PM PDT by ScottWalkerForPresident2016

The GOP pack leader promises to stay in the 2016 race because he ‘NEVER gives up.’ But his business deals show a knack for spotting a coming decline.

After sending mixed signals about what might drive him to withdraw from the presidential race, Donald Trump settled on a definitive answer last month: “I’m never dropping out.”

The next day, he tweeted, “I’m leading big in every poll and we are going to WIN! Remember, Trump NEVER gives up!”

But, like many successful businessmen, the real estate developer and GOP pack leader—who often espouses his disdain for “losers”—does not see every venture and contest through to the bitter end. Throughout his career, Trump has demonstrated wild enthusiasm at the start of big projects, and ruthlessly pursued a profit agenda that, in many cases, has led him to ditch the deal when the risks, whether financial or reputational, start to outweigh the prospective reward.

Has the U.S. media ever, in anyone alive's memory, been so openly desperate for a presidential candidate in first-place in the polls to drop out? They don't even push this hard for the also-rans (Santorum, Graham, Christie, Huckabee) to quit.

These stories are getting ridiculous in their number as he is not in decline. They make no sense.

After sending mixed signals about what might drive him to withdraw from the presidential race, Donald Trump settled on a definitive answer last month: “I’m never dropping out.”

He never sent mixed signals. They gave him a what if question. Example: What if you were last in the polls? Well then I would probably get out. Headline: Trump may get out!. That's why the press is so dishonest.

Trump will win in a landslide. Democrats will cross over in droves.

They are desperate, they have no one. They are begging Biden to get off the bench for crying out loud. They have no one.

When Trump said if he were last in the polls he would probably get out, I thought he was telling those who haven’t gained traction that they should get out.

The truth from a rabid leftist website? They cannot stand the truth and will not report the truth. Nonsense.

Let's face it folks. We don't know, any one of us, NEARLY as much about this man as we should in such a critical personal choice for our lives. Let's keep our wits about ourselves as conscientious Freepers and dig deep, conduct due diligence on him, and not go over the abyss in mindless ecstasy akin to Obamatrons in 2008 we all made fun of for their abject disregard for the age old principle of "caveat emptor."

This speculation is keeping the single digit candidates in the race and it benefits Trump.

They all think that the Trump supporters will go to them when Trump ‘quits’. They are getting played.

More than enough.

And he has to deny that he had anything to do with the last 8 yrs.

Oh, and that inappropriate touching of young women and children thingee.

Just run the picture of him and the biker chick and the 2 dudes should be enough to douse his flame or the shotgun advice.

Wow what an impending disaster for Trump!

He has been stuck at #1 in the polls for months!

Surely it is over for him.

No articles on the possibility of anyone else going downhill or dropping out though...

The quality of journalism these days is at all an time low

You are comparing your fellow FReepers to Obamatrons, really? Gee, Obama insults us every day, no need to pile on.

Do you think there is some sort of Virus plaguing this Site where all these Politically savvy and very astute Free Republic Posters have just gone off the deep end because they disagree with your assessment of a Candidate they are supporting at this stage of the Nomination process?

I am a Cruz Supporter and I also look at Trump as a close second. I do not think any of the remaining Republican Candidates would last a day under the assault of the DNC, and half of them are as useless as the wart on Obama’s Face.

I don’t see any shallow support of Trump here. Maybe you are confusing the excitement of some who are hearing from Trump what they have not heard from anyone else in the Party that they helped Elect to Congress. They got nothing for all their hard work and support, just broken promises.

Perhaps they think that going another direction and not applauding the same old Politicians who have failed them will end up with a different result. Maybe, just maybe.

As for me, I don’t really have a Dog in the Hunt at this time. The process is long and tortuous and there will be a Culling of the Herd in the very near future.

With that I’ve said my piece and I am done for the evening.
