Donald Trump says that if he had been president in 2001, his immigration policies would have kept terrorists from attacking the World Trade Center on September 11.
"I am extremely, extremely tough on illegal immigration. I'm extremely tough on people coming into this country," Trump said on Fox News Sunday. "I believe that if I were running things, I doubt those families would have -- I doubt that those people would have been in the country."

Did I forget the sarcasm tag? Apologies.
Did Bush keep us safe from the 2008 depression?
Wrong, we see Trump’s flaws, the problem is you can’t see his strengths. And at this juncture in our history, his strengths are what we need, and his flaws just don’t matter very much. There will be a time for President Cruz to finish the job, if we elect Mr. Trump. If we don’t, there never will be a President Cruz, there will only a couple of ruling families who will trade the seats of power among themselves, Clintons, Bushes, and Obamas.
Just as NATO would have prevented Munich. It’s too bad we failed to listen to The Donald’s repeated warnings before 9/11.
Been here years longer than you, buddy — long enough to remember FR as a much more thoughtful and conservative forum.
As yet, I have no dog in this hunt, but will support the eventual GOP nominee, because a Dem win is unthinkable. I want to like Trump, but his very liberal support of Kelo (eminent domain is “wonderful” because taking homes for a factory would create jobs) and his continued juvenile insults are legitimate concerns.
I admire tough talk, but not trash talk. Especially coming from someone who wants to represent us before the world.
That is funny right there.
You are right. He would have used “greatest” and “magnificent” snd “you’re gonna love it” and probably called Nagin a dummy.
Come to think of it . . .
Nah, Just Billy and Daddy Bush looking up to see if that jet coming in is their latest ‘shipment’ scheduled to arrive a Mena airport.......
If only there had been some hard evidence. Like a previous attack on the towers, or an attack on one of our naval assets
...
Again, I read Trumps comments as nothing more than, when you are in a leadership role, anything that happens on your watch is your fault.... or more simply the buck stops here.
This isn’t controversial, this is 101 leadership.
All the rest of this as far as I’m concerned is just nonsensical white noise.
Trump is correct that if effective immigration enforcement had been in place, at least some of the terrorists would not have been in this country:

I don’t think anyone, even Mr Trump has suggested at a functional standpoint that Bush caused 9/11.. obviously the terrorists caused 9/11...however when something happens on your watch, and you are in charge, its your responsibility one way or another.
How does any of that lead to the method of attack used? Simply knowing that terrorists are out there doesn’t help you protect against whatever method of attack they’re going to use.
Trump just talks, he doesnt believe half of what he says. Nevertheless it does keep him in the news like his reality show
The only thing we know for sure is that the guy who was president on 9 11 2001 didn’t stop the attack from happening. Could he have done so? You can argue that he couldn’t have done so. But either way, he didn’t
As I said, “The Buck Stops Here”
When you lead, whether you could have prevented something for happening or not, whether your policies created the situation or not, if it happens on your watch, its your responsibility, period... may not be right, may not be fair, but that’s how it is. A good leader will take that responsibility and move forward, a piss poor one will point fingers.
We have a piss poor one in the White House currently.
I don’t think Bush caused 9/11, and I don’t think it would have mattered who was in the White House on 9/11 the attack was going to happen... but Trump can make a reasonable argument that had better immigration enforcement been in place, at least some of these folks would not have been in the country that day.
However, I again see this entire blow up is just media/GOPe created drama.... citing “the buck stops here” when talking about leadership is not controversial. However I can certainly understand why the press, the GOPe and Jeb want to escalate this into something, like they have tried with other things Trump has said.... because they are losing the argument because simply put, no one trusts the establishment because they have betrayed the people for too long.... so since they can’t win the argument because that one fact, undercuts everything else they do, they are resorting to attempting to destroy the person who is carrying the anti establishment banner by trying to undermine the person.. not the general argument he’s been making.
If the GOPe wants to have any prayer of stopping Trump they have to offer proof that they have not sold out the country and ignored their constituents.... since they cannot do that, because they have done so at every turn for decades, all they can do is attempt to destroy the messenger.
George W. wasn’t paying attention to Al Qaeda in 2001 because he was too busy trying to give amnesty to illegal Mexicans.
BUSH AIDES WEIGH LEGALIZING STATUS OF MEXICANS IN U.S. (July 15, 2001)

You’d have to shut down the entire country if you’re chasing “method”. They knew full well what the profile of possible attacker was. Rounding up a few thousand suspicious visa holders would have gone a long way to disrupt any plans, and every last one of the 9/11 islamists were here on visas that were highly suspect.
Thanks for the link, added it to my bookmarks to remind people of how screwed up the Bush administration was.
What are you smoking Donald? the way to prevent terrorist attacks isn’t to focus on illegal aliens, it’s to make American citizens - including elderly grammas - take off their shoes at the airport and submit to nudie video machines
So while your post is clever... and it made me laugh... on a deeper level it’s not funny.
