Donald Trump: I would have prevented 9/11
CNN ^ | 10/18/15 | Eric Bradner

Posted on 10/18/2015 8:46:12 AM PDT by jimbo123

Donald Trump says he's not blaming George W. Bush for 9/11, but he claims that if he'd been president, the attacks never would have happened.

In an appearance on "Fox News Sunday," the real estate mogul said that since he's "extremely, extremely tough on immigration" the attackers wouldn't have been in position to commandeer U.S. flights.

"So there's a good chance that those people would not have been in our country," Trump said.

He took another shot at Jeb Bush for claiming that Bush's brother, the 43rd president, kept the nation safe.

"I'm not blaming George Bush," Trump said. "But I don't want Jeb Bush to say, 'My brother kept us safe,' because September 11 was one of the worst days in the history of this country."

They were originally here legally on student visas, they overstayed and should’ve been deported.

And with what we know now, if they express even a hint of the slightest jihad sentiment, any currently here should be rounded up, cuffed and jammed into a cargo plane under guard and flown back to the farthest islamic hellhole.

GET OUT!

"Don't blame Clinton for all of it.",

Perhaps I should have explained further. For example: The Gorelick wall, and the fact that Bubba had what 6 opportunities to take out Bin-Laden with Cruise Missile Strikes and he didn't. So if Trump / Carson really want to "go" down that road, in order for them to have stopped 9/11, perhaps they should have been POTUS in Clinton's 2nd term from 1996 through 2000...

Are you trying to defend Jeb? How do you defend the Tsarnaev family being allowed in the US in 2002 as refugees? Of course Clinton was partially responsible. So was George 1. None of that means GWB couldn’t have done more immediately upon taking office, and doesn’t explain why Muslim “refugees” were still being admitted to the US afterwards.

No, I am not sticking up for anyone. I am going back to root cause circa 1990’s, if you deem my opines as myopic then so be it, I am trying to add to the various perspectives of this complicated “what happened here”.

So you agree that “what happened here” does not absolve GWB of all blame, as Jeb contends? Isn’t that all Trump said? He never blamed GWB totally.

No, Trump... you wouldn’t have. The planning was already well in place before Bush came into office.

No, they weren’t here on student visas and only 3 had expired visas. Now the case can absolutely be made that they should have never been granted visas, but no President can overhaul an immigration system in 8 months.

OK, to put it more precisely, the bulk of them were here on fraudulent visas or expired visas. 3 or more depending on the source were expired visas, while most of the rest were improperly or fraudulently filled out.

It’s worth asking into, whether sufficiently vigorous vigilance could have aborted the plot.

Even if it is debatable, Trump has just gotten himself more publicity, and there is enough truth to this to stick to the Bushes.

Trump is going to DELEGATE to others. He does know that the president does not go through every bit of intelligence, right? He can be a blowhard when he wants to be.

In fact the headline is nearly the opposite of what he said. That’s called ‘marketing’!

It's also on the verge of being a libel lawsuit

The serious questions should start with the “wall” the Clinton cabal created barring communications between the FBI and CIA; the ignored opportunities to take custody of bin Laden, and Bubba’s abject failure to substantively reduce the threat from al-Qaeda after the embassy bombings.

But Trump will never ask those questions .. those that may embarrass Clinton.

“Based on the timing of the WTC attack, it would have been the 2nd Clinton term that would have prevented the attack.”

Clinton had airport screeners profiling Arabs/Muslims for extra scrutiny during his term. Dubya ran against that practice and made a big deal out of stopping it.

This is what Dubya said in one of the 2000 debates:

“Arab-Americans are racially profiled in what’s called secret evidence. People are stopped, and we got to do something about that.” “My friend, Sen. Spence Abraham is pushing a law to make sure that, you know, Arab-Americans are treated with respect. So racial profiling isn’t just an issue at the local police forces. It’s an issue throughout our society. And as we become a diverse society, we’re going to have to deal with it more and more.”

When he was elected Dubya followed through on his promise to stop airport screeners from giving extra scrutiny to Arabs. At least one of the ticket people who had Mohammed Atta go through his line mentioned how he had wanted to have him pulled aside but couldn’t do it.

Bush’s indifference to border security was a hallmark of his administration, from his refusal to limit Muslim immigration after 9-11 to his constant promotion of amnesty for illegal aliens. And lax border security was a major factor in 9-11.
