End of ISIS? Terror group 'on verge of defeat' as Russian jets cut off arms supplies

Russian jets have made 41 sorties and carried out 40 attacks against the twisted terror group in the past 24 hours, a defence official claimed.

The attacks took place in dozens of ISIS strongholds in the Syrian provinces of Aleppo, Hama, Idlib, Latakia and Deir ez-Zur, he added.

Russia's bombing campaign against the so-called caliphate, which controls vast swathes of Syria and Iraq, began earlier this month.

General Igor Konashenkov, spokesman for the Russian Defence Ministry, said: "Sukhoi Su-24M bombers delivered pinpoint strikes against terrorist targets near the city of Aleppo.

"They took out workshops used by the militant terrorist group to arm vehicles with explosives, which are used in suicide bomb attacks."

Vlad’s boys are sending lotsa ISIS savages to their virgins. Hope Big Al can keep up with the demand. Heard rumors of Virgin shortages. You get 36 now and an IOU, signed by Mo himself, for 36 more, delivered to you by the next Ramadan.

Wait. Wasn’t it just two days ago that there were posters talking about how Russia wasn’t fighting ISIS?

Really sucks we can’t fly side-by-side in this mission with them. Of course we should’ve done this ourselves, because Russia getting closer to Iran still presents us with danger even with ISIS out of the picture.

Trump will definitely win some points in the short-term if Russia succeeds in taking out ISIS, since he backed them pretty strongly in the effort.

The Ayatollah’s lackeys are doing a good job? They should be honored to be serving the Ayatollah. Maybe they can kill some Christians for him too.

Of course that would be grrreat! as Tony the Tiger would say, but I do not believe it. ISIS is widely spread and deeply embedded in the cinders of the wartorn Middle East.
It’s going to take some time to get them out, even with forceful conviction of the Russians. If ISIS seems far less visible now vs before the Russians joined Assad’a army, It is probably because they are either hiding in the rugged terrain, or hiding in the homes of innocent people.

Today’s temperature in Kabul was 66 degrees farenheit. No precipitation. That’s very comfortable weather. They could even sleep under the stars.
The most severe winter will not start in the Kabul area until December, from my understanding. So groups like Hama, ISIS and the Taliban have a few more weeks to dig in before snow, dig in before one of Putin’s drones sends them a message written in fire.

Vlad’s boys

Shouldn't we call them Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's boys, since he is the one they are really fighting for?

That’s a false dichotomy. Supporting the destruction of ISIS is not the same as supporting Iran, even if the Russians are allied with Iran.

This is the same paper that headlined Turkey shot down a Russian jet.

I heard it once had a reputable name. one look at the site and one knows that’s gone.

Still, I do think russia has done and will continue to do damage to ISIS.

But like many Military men on FR have always said, boots on the ground are the only way to defeat an army.

Although softening the targets with brutal airstrikes helps@!! :)

How can this be used to bash Obama? After all, he just signed a “deal” with Iran. And Putin is fighting ISIS for Iran too. So Putin & Obama are serving the same overlord. Kind of like twins.

The only reason Russia is fighting in Syria now is because Iran ordered them to save Assad’s butt. They aren’t doing it because they are Captain America. If anything, Russia was promising to help Iran and Assad four or five years ago. It just shows how week Russia is that they waited until now to follow through with their promises.
