It appears that the second Monday in October being celebrated as "Columbus Day" is going the way of the Confederate battle flag and monuments to Southern soldiers and for much the same reason. More and more cities are dropping the acknowledgment of the European discovery of America in favor of "Indigenous Peoples Day."

Would that be the day that celebrates people and cultures who settled and occupied this land from Asia before Columbus?
Yes....I ate deer meat...with my hands
I was trying to find a virgin to offer to the Demi God Ooga Bama. I couldn’t find a virgin, then I found out that Ooga Bama was gay. Man, what a wasted day.
Freakin’ awesome Sacajaweau. Heart?
Yep... notice most of them state “Cherokee?” We don’t hear “Pamunkey” or “Mattaponi.” The names of those tribes are cool-sounding enough.
are=aren’t
Siberian-Americans Day
I celebrated by buying a used copy of Samuel Eliot Morison’s biography of Columbus: “Admiral of the Ocean Sea”.
Columbus Day is one holiday that needs to be reformatted. He never actually landed in America, and honestly had no idea where he was when he was in the area.
He had absolutely nothing to do with the United States.
LOL! Yeah, it’s always, Apache, or Crow, or Blackfoot. Never Navajo or Seminole. (Unless you go to FSU)
Hard to believe that at one time, Columbus was considered a hero.
Before our time, but the Columbian exposition in Chicago in 1893 was a world’s fair which explicitly celebrated Columbus.
You could never have such a celebration today, in this politically correct world.
I never understand why it is, that liberals judge people of the past harshly for not having a 21st century politically correct worldview back in their day. Is it really realistic to expect Columbus to have had a 21st century worldview in the 15th century????
Yep, cheering on the Cubs. They’re indigenous, well some are.
Obama snuck off to San Diego to play Golf and a Wedding was delayed while he played through
Can you spell Amerigo Vespucci? LOL! Yup. He thought he was in Ind-jha. (The haughty john f’n kohn-heinz-kerryesque pronunciation)
It’s not “Cherokee” anyway...
Our tribe is Ani-Yun-Wiya....
The Muskogee referred to us as Tsalagi...That is where the white man bastardized the name to Cherokee....
Chris and Isabella sitting in a tree.....
Geez. Like it’s all about him or something.
Being the first immigrant does not make one indigenous.
