LOS ANGELES Four California schools will be forced to change mascots after Gov. Jerry Brown signed legislation barring public schools from using the "Redskins" name for sports teams.
It was one of three sports-related bills Brown approved Sunday. He also signed a measure that bans using or possessing smokeless tobacco on the playing field at professional baseball parks and another that recognizes competitive cheerleading as a high school sport.
The mascot legislation will prevent public schools from using a term that American Indians regard as offensive. It goes into effect in 2017.
Only four schools still use the name. Messages seeking comment from school officials were not immediately returned Monday, a federal holiday.
Brown rejected separate legislation that bans naming parks, schools and other public property after Confederate leaders.
Not long ago there was a federal legislature who wrote a bill limiting how loud late night commercials could be.
So now the Governor is the final authority on what high school team names will be allowed?
His state is overrun with illegal Mexican and South American refuse even their motherlands don’t want, his state is inundated with egregious extra costs for entitlements, schooling, social and criminal costs, and a plethora of other ills, and this a$$hole bans the name “Redskins” from school teams. Great job there, Brownie.
At one time the 14th Amendment placed limitations on the power of states over the people. Now, the concepts of a constitutionally limited government and the Rule of Law are dead letters.
Over 100 years of the Team Mascot locally, gone with a whim and a pen.
Because Governor "moonbeam" has absolutely nothing more important to worry about.
California Uber Alles.
I wonder who would be outraged, and why?
The Reseda Long-haired Make-up Wearing Alcoholics?
Redskins is offensive to him but not giving free healthcare, drivers licenses and the right to vote to to criminal foreign invaders.
Well...as long as his priorities are in the right order. PUKE
That is not the worst bill that Brown signed in the last week. He signed another bill prohibiting all concealed firearms on college campuses. I assume that included off duty police officers. He also signed a bill that requiring all people getting California drivers licenses get registered to vote, unless they opt out. I think the SEIU purple shirts working in the DMV offices were doing that already. Of course the illegal aliens will be registered as permanent vote by mail voters, with the ballots mailed to SEIU controlled addresses.
Read those vaunted achievements one more time, and then consider that Gov. Brown is thinking of running for President.
And if he jumps in he could become the Democrat frontrunner.
Then be very afraid for your country.
Not like California has real problems to solve or anything.
There is a guy a couple of doors up the street who is always wearing an SEIU t-shirt. He is a singularly unpleasant fellow. The only guy on the block that you would not particularly care to have as a neighbor.
Always mysterious goings on in and around his garage late at night. Trucks dropping off and picking up packages. Other purple shirts milling about. Just sayin’.
Nobody. Even conservatives have subconsciously bought into the rhetoric by using demeaning descriptions of our white skin, such as “pasty white”. It may seem a little insignificant thing, but if only the right understood the power of language and the redefinition of words as well as the left does, they wouldn’t succumb to this mess. I am white, I am pale-complexioned, I don’t tan and don’t try to or want to, and I would never describe my pale complexion as “pasty”. It is the complexion which women for thousands of years tried to have, and it is healthier to boot. If I need to use an adjective for my pale complexion, it will be something like “lily pale” or “magnolia texture” :)
But just think about how good he feels about himself for doing this. He’s a “nice person”. A leftwing kook but still a “nice person”. LOL! It gives him warm fuzzies.

Moonbeam strikes again.
My late mother always called pale, healthy complexions like yours “peaches and cream”.
