Conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt on Sunday slammed Rep. Dave Brat (R-Va.) and the House Freedom Caucus for "holding the House hostage" and blocking Republicans from electing a successor to outgoing Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), who wants to resign at the end of the month.
Hewitt said on NBC's "Meet The Press" that he hopes Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) who has said he doesn't want to be Speaker will change his mind. Hewitt then criticized Brat, who was on the roundtable, and the conservative House Freedom Caucus for giving Ryan a tepid response.
"There's like 15 of you people," Hewitt said of the caucus, which has about 40 members. "The Freedom Caucus is like 15 people. Paul Ryan is liked by 225 Republicans. Get with the program."
"How do you know we're not with the program?" said Brat, who defeated former House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) in a stunning primary upset.

“Conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt” - Well there is your problem, Huge Hewitt is anything BUT conservative, he is a milquetoast RINO.
He was selected to be the “conservative” moderator at the CNN debate. That tells you all you need to know about where he falls on the ideological spectrum. Hip-to-hip with George Will.
The Democrats love Hewitt.
End of story.
Hewitt sounds like a typical liberal statist.
“get with the program” my ass.
I guess “the science is settled”. Right, Hugh?
If Ryan has 225 votes, then it’s a done deal.
So. What’s the problem?
Exactly.
I like how these type of people “out” themselves.
Freepers said he is “tough but fair.” eye roll.

“The Unembarrassed Deceiver”
Hewitt now sounds like an operative for the Democrat Party.
IMHO
Good rule of thumb. If Hewitt backs someone, someone else is better.
I think the revolt is winning friends by arguing that the *power* of the office needs to be reduced and democratized.
This is what happened the last time Republicans revolted against the Republican Speaker of the House, Joseph Gurney Cannon.

Then, it was progressive Republicans in revolt against a steadfast conservative, so the roles were reversed.

Hey ES he still on the air?
I am sorry I been listen to more to KFI than KABC lately
I stand by that. He's a politico (I have my own reservations with him), but he is not a "RINO" (what an overused term). He is definitely right of center. And, unlike a lot of you here, I know what I'm talking about.
So have you gotten with the program?
I agree. Every now and then he veers off into Republican shill territory, but he is generally conservative, and his radio program is required listening in order to be politically informed. If you listen to both him and Mark Levin, you get a good balance.
