He laughed at the notion. Told Hannity to go round up the votes and get back to him.
He wasn’t the least bit serious.

Some idiot robocalls using his name have been calling my house for over a year pimping for money. They call about three times a day. I think I’ll pass, Fig Newton.

K Street Newt became a part of the problem a long time ago.

Yes. Not only does he know how to run things, it would make RAT heads explode.

I’d make an amazing speaker of the house. If I only had the votes. I’ve got the time, and I’m willing to say on camera, in a press conference.... “We have a difference of opinion with OBAMMY.... and we will not ever pass legislation funding Planned Parenthood. Its not going to happen. Any bills that have tax dollars being spent on Planned Parenthood are dead on arrival, and if OBAMMY wants to shut down the government over funding planned parenthood, then he can shut it down.”

Newt Gingrich balanced the budget and had the Contract with America, I can deal with him.

Actually if we draft someone who is not a sitting senator to be speaker, doesn’t that effectively give us another vote. Or at least in the case of a tie?

I have been strongly opposed to Newt getting back into things, until right now.
For some reason the idea no longer bothers me. If he’s ready to come back, I say let him come back.
To: ButThreeLeftsDo
Maybe I missed something, but doesn't the Speaker need to be a member of Congress? Last I checked, Newt isn't.

No thanks.
Paul Ryan will want the job after he thinks about it.

Bring him back! Gingrich took the fall for the shutdown, although as usual it was the fault of the Dems and their non-negotiability tactic. But Gingrich achieved his goals, and that’s what we need. As the late great Janis Joplin sang, “freedom’s just another word for nothing left to lose.” And Gingrich has nothing left to lose.
