It may seem an innocent enough act to warm up your sausage roll in the microwave during lunch hour.
But think again, because doing so could seriously upset colleagues of certain faiths, new guidelines on the etiquette of using communal kitchens at work suggest.
Similarly, it would also be advisable to avoid keeping bacon rolls in a fridge shared with people whose religious beliefs prohibit them from eating pork.
Adam Dinham, professor of faith and public policy at Goldsmiths, University of London, has drawn up a religious literacy programme due to be presented to employers this week.
He said: The microwaves example is a good one. We also say, Dont put kosher or halal and other . . . special foods next to another [food] or, God forbid, on the same plate.
Halal and kosher food served at corporate events should be certified, and consideration should be given to whether to serve alcohol, the guidelines further suggest.

Got a couple sausage egg and cheese biscuits ready to go
Someone could make a killing in certain places with a bacon scented aftershave..
Don’t behead people...
It will upset people of other faiths...
Do they mind if I use the mandatory one sheet of TP after it exits?
In an hour I will be in a place full of Nuoc Mom Cham
I am offended by prayer rugs used for pagan worship so they should ban them from the workplace too.
At one of my job sites, they had to bring in a microwave for use only by a certain cube cluster.
This particular cube cluster absolutely destroyed the common room microwave with curry dishes.
Excuse me, but they are my veggie sausage ;)
Wasn’t it the lefty line that one should never impose one’s religion on others? I guess that doesn’t apply to Muslims.
It’s “Nuoc Mam” not “Nuoc Mom”.
And it’s one of my favorite garnishs for food.
The ancient Romans had an identical food called Garum.
And I am currently munching on a Jimmy Dean Sausage, Cheese and Biscuit that I just finished heating in the office microwave.
Oh, that bacon looks so good!
I love the aroma of cooking bacon, and it would also drive the muzzies out of the break room!
I’ve heard of entire apartment complexes getting stunk up by Pakis & their smelly curries.
I thought that those “other” religions were just prohibited from eating those things not looking at them! Sheesh During Lent I will sometimes go into a McDonald’s on a friday for their fish sandwich which I like very much. I am not offended that they are serving hamburgers there on a friday in Lent.
OK, I’ll just add a little filtered pork grease to my gasoline with every fill up.
Leave a little pork everywhere I drive.
Yo,
Moose limb savages,
Pork you.
Muslims are indoctrinated that pigs are the "filthiest of animals". So, to a Muslim, pork is not just "forbidden", it's more like a Westerner would feel about people cooking rat meat in a shared kitchen, or rat meat sitting in the fridge next to your lunch.
Muslims are also indoctrinated that we “infidels” are the “filthiest of creatures” (Koran) and that Muslims are “the best of all peoples” (Koran).
Excellent idea. This needs to be done on a National scale. I’ll spread the rumor on the net.
