Rep. Kevin McCarthy is not even Speaker of the House yet, but there is already a group ready to fire him.
A group of prominent right-leaning organizations formed a coalition Wednesday dubbed "Fire Kevin McCarthy," pledging to remove the California Republican should he be chosen to replace John Boehner when he retires at the end of next month.
"Having worked with Kevin McCarthy in the House, I'll admit he's a friendly guy," former Georgia Rep. Paul Broun said in a statement announcing the formation of the coalition. "But we need a dramatic change in House leadership we can't afford to replace Speaker Boehner with someone who will continue to carry out his failed legacy, one that has been stifling conservative progress for six years."
Elections for the next House Speaker are slated for Oct. 8.

The article says that Gowdy turned Boehner down.
Today there was an news item that said Gowdy was planning to leave the House. That turned out to be false.
Gowdy’s name is apparently involved in some kind of counter-intel operation to either help him or hurt him.
How do you process that idea in terms of this item about Boehner urging him to run. I can see how it could also be released in order to hurt him.
Gowdy has denied that. It was misinformation put out by opponents.
We’ve been Bonered for too long.
How about Louie Gohmert to replace Boner?
If a conservative does not run for the post, then this whole exercise has been a waste of time.
Thank you. I had not heard that it was denied.
Gowdy said something ages ago now that leaned towards his disinterest in DC. Very vague memory exactly what he said, but enough to wonder if he would ever become a permanent fixture for very long. That old car he drives to work. Have you seen that? He just keeps his head down, accepts whatever assignment he believes he can do well and is content with that.
This guy is very talented and quick, but is more of a citizen representative, apparently, without a lot of ambition to get drawn in deeper and deeper into DC politics. Truly, I would not be surprised he would walk away after his term, but we’ll see.
Check out #46.
I don’t really think so, but who knows. Gowdy doesn’t seem to be a political threat to anyone, and is not a DC addict, that’s for sure. By now, with the Justice Department, FBI, Judicial Watch, a couple of Inspector Generals and the US media nashing their own teeth after Hillary, so he is out of the spot light. And, safe.
I just had a feeling that the guy can't be trusted.
McCarthy lost all cred for ANY republican leadership position with his diarrhea-ladened comments about the Benghazi committee on Hannity. What an absolute idiot. It’s as though the Clinton’s blackmailed him into reading that on national television.
Gowdy must be absolutely livid, and I wouldn’t blame him one bit.
Tradition? What had Boehner done before he became speaker?
I doubt Gohmert could get 5 votes in the House caucus.
We don't need another dummy as Speaker.
Gowdy isn’t someone conservatives should trust. He is more GOP establishment than many realize.
