Despite a long process involving collaboration between local officials the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in Western Colorado, the federal land agency is proceeding with the closure of roads that have been traveled for 50 or more years. The road closures comprise a portion of the BLMs Resource Management Plan (RMP) for Mesa County, of which, 73 percent is controlled by the federal government .

public roads, used by off-roaders, hunters, farmers, ranchers and, during wildfire season, firefighting crews.

Jody Green, a member of Public Lands Access Association and long-time activist working to preserve access into federally-managed lands, said, Its ludicrous, what theyre doing. Theyre not following state or federal law. Mr. Green then cited Colorado Revised Statute (CRS) 43.
According to CRS 43-2-201, closures of roads or public highways by any governing body other than a municipality or county are illegal. That clause prohibits federal officers from closing any route. According to Colorado law, only the county has the right to do what the BLM has done and is attempting to do in Mesa County.
But federal law may also prohibit the BLMs road closures as well. Revised Statute (RS) 2477 was devised by the United States Congress in 1866 to govern roads, routes and rights-of-way in western states. RS 2477 placed all decisions regarding roads on public lands within the jurisdictions of counties and states. Although the Federal Land Policy Management Act of 1976 (FLPMA), repealed RS 2477, the language within the new act served to grandfather in RS 2477.

Utah is one of the few states to mount an RS 2477 challenge against the BLM. In Utah the state will join counties in these legal challenges, and, according to Siegfried, there are currently 12,000 miles of public routes under dispute in that state.

Turn it over to the private sector! No State or Federal government has any "NEEDFUL PURPOSE" in claiming ownership... NONE!!! It should be left on the local government's property tax rolls instead of the State or Feds ripping that off.
At least give it back to the government closest to the people such as a county!!!
Sketchy doin’s and some do force the situation for no reason.
I hear ya’
No most of the BLM are out there trying to keep people off the land. Keep miners off their claims. Mr. GG2 and his lawyer were out walking to one of his claims and a BLM guy appeared and tried to run him out of the woods. They will tell you right to your face that its their land. Mr. GG2 said “ no you work for me and its the people’s land” right after that his attorney handed the fool a business card and they proceeded on to the claim site. Well in the interest of full disclosure right after Mr. GG2 threatened to beat the guy’s azz. :-)

If they want to secure some thing, go to the border and secure that!
I used to assume they were good guys.
Trust me on this they are all losers. BLM needs to go bye bye. The sooner the better. This is why the Oathkeepers are guarding the Sugar Pine Mine in Oregon.
King Obama? King Putt! (my Egyptian friends saw the humor in that. hee hee hee)
Yes it is.
Lefties want to flood the border with illegal aliens = future Democrat voters - and punish working Americans.
Thanks.
Wolves. They are using wolves.
What do you think of my suggestion in #81, above?
Good suggestion . The lefties and many federal employees want almost all federal lands closed to working people / businesses . The lefties do not grasp the concept that the government can go broke.
The BLM , USFS, etc. should not control and shut down so much of the former land-of- many-uses. The US Constitution is clear on this point - imho. Socialists do not care about the rule of law , so are happy to steal as much as they can grab. Even if future generations suffer.
This is part of the UN Agenda 21 fight.
The US Forest Service is spending a lot of money and manpower to shut down roads in Arizona. Fossil Canyon/Fossil Creek in north-central AZ is a fantastic place to visit but the Forest Service has closed the road from Payson due to “falling” rocks and severely limits the number of people who are allowed to park at the trailhead near Payson to 32 cars. When I tried to get to the trailhead they had at least 6 people working at one time to turn Americans away from their land. On west side ofFossil Canyon/Fossil Creek from Camp Verde they pay 4 to 6 Forest Service employees to shut the road down at 5:00 AM and guard the gate after only letting in about 40 cars. The fascist told me that they have to protect the canyon and that they cannot afford to build the toilets and parking lots to accommodate Americans.
When I do the math I find that paying at least 16 employees (2 shifts a day * 8) to do nothing but piss off Americans is money wasted that could easily fund the improvements. I guesstimate that the FS is probably pissing away at least 1.1 million (70k per employee per year * 16) to keep US out.
I will see the day when those MF’ers are gone.
According to Colorado law....
Since when does obama and his cronies give a rat’s a$$ about the law? They are above the law in their minds.
