One day after Scott Walker dropped out of the presidential race, the Politico headline read: “Walker’s campaign manager unloads.” The same day, the Washington Post had an article, “Inside the collapse of Scott Walker’s presidential bid,” which also drew heavily from Walker’s campaign manager, GOP consultant Rick Wiley. It’s almost as if Wiley had an agenda.

I laughed when I read those paragraphs. Because that is the exact same tactic McCain used to Smear the other 4 participants in the Keating 5 Scandal.
He was the source for most of the Washington Press stories on the issue, to save his sorry crooked ass.
Reagan was his own man and he had his own team, who were completely loyal to the man. Men like Lyn Nofzinger, Ed Meese and Marlin Fitzwater, to name a few. I’m sure they employed consultants and pollsters in the campaigns but these were employees. Reagan was his own man!
Yrs ago I was involved with candidates and consultants. To say most consultants are out of touch with the base is the understatement of the century!
Second tier workers are needed and do a good job at what they do. But the no nothings at the top need to be tarred and feathered.
When Walker hired Wiley, there were many (including me) what was going on? Why someone like Wiley, a GOP-e ‘consultant’ who did not have a stellar record? Was it because of a poor decision by Walker or maybe was Wiley to be a ‘mole’ in the Walker campaign to undermine and destroy it paving the way for Jeb to take the lead?
Perhaps it was a combination of the two, but I think it is more of the latter. The problem is, the GOP-e was not planning on Trump and Carson making the splash as they currently are. Also, the GOP-e has more unexpected things in their laps now....isn’t that right, Boehner? XD
My gaydar just exploded on “bear overload” while looking at Rick Wiley’s beard and shaved head.
There are two kinds of consultants: those who make themselves part of the public narrative; and those you never hear of. There is often a little leakage in the two and fro of a campaign, but generally the guys who stay invisible are the ones I would want on my team. I’ve known a number of them over the years. They are straight shooters, NEVER insert themselves into the story, and NEVER whisper a negative word about a client or a client’s campaign, staff, or other consultants.
Amazing how they blame consultants, the wife, even Romney-—who isn’t even running-—but never blame the candidate himself.
On the other hand, Donald Trump just goes on a few late night shows and holds a few rallies a few hours before he finally shows up on the debate stage, and he’s ready to rumble. Just like that. No fuss, no muss.
I’m getting angrier by the minute reading this stuff.
Why in the world would Walker agree to go after evangelicals when Cruz, Huckabee, and Santorum are running?

Trump doesn’t have to worry about this at all. He has his kids and 30-40 year employees working his campaign
