A high school student has reportedly been suspended after knocking another teenager to the ground for bullying a blind classmate.
School officials are now facing a maelstrom of backlash from supporters outraged by news of the boy's punishment.
Footage of the incident, which officials said took place at Huntington Beach High School in Southern California at about 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, surfaced later that day and showed one student repeatedly beating a blind classmate on the head.
Seconds later, the video, which was recorded by a bystander, showed another teen jump in and stop the pummeling with one blow to the tormentors face, knocking the bloody boy on the ground.

Zero tolerance is un intelligent un American and un manly.
In the exact same situation, I would expect my Son to step in to help. Best part- I have no doubt he would.
They say that the big disadvantage of Home Schooling is that the kid will miss out on the "socialization" that is available at government schools. Who really thinks that's a loss?
Before anyone gets their panties in a twist, there’s a backstory here. This caught fire on social media yesterday.
Turns out the “blind” kid isn’t really blind, at least not completely. He’s “legally blind” and has a learning disability. The kid was trying to start a fight with the “bully” who eventually started wailing on him after the “blind” kid started hitting him.
The student who later intervened and is seen as the hero hit the “bully” in the head and split him open to where he needed stitches.
I don’t condone the “bully’s” behavior, he could’ve just walked away, but the “blind” kid was the antagonist in this exchange according to all involved.
Recall the School Board
Don’t fear! Obama will be tweeting to him soon!
Nonsense. Sometimes violence is the only option, therefore the best option. In this case, violence got the job done quickly and precisely.
I'm always amused when I hear people speak of handicapped people in glowing terms, such as "Oh, Down Syndrome children are all so loving!" Actually, some handicapped people are downright mean. Just like able people, it depends on the individual.
All violence ever did was stop slavery and end The Holocaust.
And who knows, may be the "bully" had been putting up with it for months.
Huntington Beach High School district officials are gutless cowards and total reprobates for refusing to support the student who came to the rescue of the blind person.
The district officials should be fired and they should be highly encouraged to leave the country. We don’t need these low-lifes in any educational system in the U.S., even in California.
And do you believe that story? I am inclined to call BS there. I will wait for the real facts but I can say that the video and audio don’t appear to back up the story you mentioned.
Our country is so screwed up right now.
No good deed goes unpunished, kid.
Welcome to reality.
Regarding your backstory, can you site a source for your information please? I’d like to read more about this.
That is absolutely true! As a person who is disabled herself and went to schools for handicapped people; I can attest to the fact that some are downright mean.
Look at the messages the youth of today receives from their leaders.
It is a disjointed message.
God bless America, we need God’s direction which we turn from regularly. “ Forgive us Father we know not what we do” in Jesus name, amen.
With great power comes great responsibility.
