You nailed the difference. Cruz is good, very good, but he doesn’t connect with the heart like Trump does.
Did they boo Trump, or Rubio?
The CNN debate, Cruz sounded very much like a preacher to me with his voice and delivery. Maybe being in the same room with Huckabee brought out the drawl?
They WILL all flame out. Because they are ALL bores.
Of course, the press is writing that Trump was booed.
Cruz makes some very good points, but I agree - his speeches are canned. He does put in some fresh zingers though. For everyone saying Trump doesn’t give specific policy positions - I’d say Cruz doesn’t either. I’ve heard his same speech about the 5 things he would do on day 1 in office - I can alsmot repeat his trump speech verbatim. I guess that’s what you have to do on the stump - you talk to so many different people, but with Trump - he is unpredictable.
Ronald Reagan knew that his REAL audience was at home, six feet from their TV sets. Even when speaking to 50,000 people, he spoke as if his audience was six feet away.
Carter never understood that. He delivered his speeches as if he were announcing train arrivals. And so do most politicians, including Cruz.
Speaking of Cruz’s stump speech. I am AGAINST a flat income tax, because unless the 16th Amendment is repealed, the PROGRESSIVE income tax will come back.
ONLY the FAIR Tax will do.
This guy gets around.
It might go either way.
He’s doing the Oklahoma State Fair.
Thank you, Joe! We are sorely lacking Trump news here! It’s all over the place elsewhere, but unfortunately I can not post from this computer.
The Trump speech is a fine speech. He is relentless, unmoved by the stony faces, and telling it like it is.
This “values” summit tells me a lot! This group of evangelicals is into PC! They want toned down cornmeal, not a fighter, or the Trump determination to wreck the GOP and the corruption.
Most of that audience squirm and go all harrumphy when Trump exposes Rubio on the Gang of Eight, saying how he changed to redeem himself with conservatives.
Obviously, Trump doesn’t mention it (if he even knows it) but Rubio also recently changed back to his Catholic raising for the same reasons— the one’s that benefit Marco. He was quite clear in his original run for the US senate that he was raised Catholic, but attends a Baptist church with his Baptist family, and is Baptist.
Now with the Pope accepting an invitation to DC and Congress, he is suddenly a devout Catholic again. A fine Baptist Catholic. What a deal. Rubio waffles on both traditions, when it is to his benefit.
What a pickle faced audience. Who are these people? Trump did lay it on them about reality— that it is time for competence.
Meant to ping you to 33. Sorry.
Yes. It seemed to be a crowd he had to win over. And he did.
I thought they booed Donald, for calling out Rubio as a clown, but this link did not show how one could possibly determine which is true.
The audience vibes were low key and PC, in my opinion (ref. 33 upthread.)
Exactly. Money here, money there. A toss-up.
Maybe they were booing Trump getting into specific personalities instead of issues. After that, Trump stuck to issues and seemed to win the crowd over.
I think Trump realized exactly the crowd this group was. I loved when he held his Bible, given to him by his mom, up in the air.
He hit on Rubio and exposed his Gang of 8 hypocrisy, one more time to these folks. THESE are the ones who need to be reminded of The Rube’s amnesty love.
I also noticed that the audience warmed up, and were actually cheering along with Trump and laughing at his call outs and unique use of terms...they even gave him a standing ovation.
All in all...a great response from this group.
Can’t wait to hear his speech in OK City, tonight.
If anyone has a live link, please ping me!! TIA
Agree ;-)
