The man John Boehner once called a "jackass" took the stage...
Although Ted Cruz may have been inclined to dance on the speaker's political grave, he made reference to the surprising news only in passing.
"You want to know how much each of you terrify Washington?" Mr Cruz asked ..."Yesterday, John Boehner was Speaker of the House. Y'all come to town and somehow that changes."
"My only request," he quipped, "is, can you come more often?"
Mr Cruz has clashed repeatedly with his party's leadership over the past several years...
After his speech today, Cruz expressed concern that Mr Boehner may be ending his tenure with one more effort at negotiation with Democrats.
"If it is correct that the speaker, before he resigns, has cut a deal with Nancy Pelosi to fund the Obama administration for the rest of its tenure, to fund Obamacare, to fund executive amnesty, to fund Planned Parenthood, to fund implementation of this Iran deal - and then, presumably, to land in a cushy K Street job after joining with the Democrats to implement all of President Obama's priorities, that is not the behaviour one would expect of a Republican speaker of the House," he said.
Two years ago ... [w]hen asked about Mr Cruz's presidential candidacy, Mr Boehner replied with an obscene gesture...
Now Boehner is gone, and it seems Mr Cruz's brand of high-stakes brinkmanship is gaining favour in the US capital. While the senator himself didn't take credit for the change, Oklahoma Congressman Jim Bridenstine - who introduced Cruz at the Washington event - wasn't so demur.
"We're going to get new leadership in the House of Representative," he said. "It's happening because there's a newly elected senator that showed up and started articulating principles that were consistent with the Republican platform."

Now why do you have to denigrate my State with any more of his type than there already exist?
It’s bad enough the blue hairs and illegals vote lock-step with the candy-man credentials (aka Santa Clause).
Ted’s having a good day!
Somehow, I see little in the way of SENATOR Cruz doing much to make HOUSE leader Boner step down.
Now, if Turtle McScrotum were the one....
Time for all of us to line up behind, and contribute to a legitimate constitutional conservative from Ohio’s 8th Congressional District - assuming there is one and not another pretender, of course. I contributed to the campaigns on Ben Sasse, Chris McDaniel, Matt Bevin and Dave Brat in 2014 and, even though only Sasse and Brat won, I’m damned glad I did. It was only through the heinous efforts of McConnell, Boehner and the so-called “Kingmaker” Carl Rove that McDaniel didn’t win.
ahahaha GREAT CHOICE of Photos!!!!
Thank you!
“I looked out for him in ways that I could, he looked out for me in ways that he could. I will always consider John Boehner my friend Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid said on the Senate floor. I will continue to work with him as I have in the past to try to do what I think is right for the country as Im confident he will, and hopefully well continue someplace there in the middle to get things done It is a gross understatement to say I will miss him.
I think that pretty much says it all.
Boehner's resignation is capitulation to the GOPe ho are aware that there is revolution within the GOP , and in the general populace .
Why do you think that the GOP was flooded with so many candidates ?
How did Carly rise from the second row, and appear in the latest debate : the GOPe wanted her there to knock-down Trump surging popularity.
And the enemedia complied by showing Carly's surging numbers; an event that is touted by both the GOPe's and the DIMS since they dont want a shakeup of the current power.
Look at what Carly proposes , and see what Hilldebeast supports and you won't really see much difference.
It all has to do with : Fear of Trump (FOT) !
Boehner's resignation is just a foil to deflect criticism of GOPe and redirect the revolt within the party .
Big baby. He has cried more on tv right now than I have in a year.
Suck it up, buttercup.
To be known as the sock puppet of the worst president in history
The man is emotionally unstable and needed to go...
He may reside in Florida, after the resignation, but he will certainly have landed a lucrative lobbyist gig to tide him over in his retirement.
I had read about a year ago that he’d purchased some type of dwelling in the sunshine state.
This has been in the works for awhile.
I think the GOPe will be shown the door at some point. Now, it might require an act of God, but they can't continue to bulrush their way over all our liberty just as the left does, while they work to make us think they are doing the right thing.
Hopefully, he will find a good private club with a comfortable bar down there and you won’t even know he is around, unless he starts driving himself around in a car.
His time as Speaker of the House could be looked at as an extension of Pelosi’s traitorous tenure.
