The article doesn't say, but IMHO, this has "Illegal Alien employees" written all over it.

A 12-passenger van carrying 24 people. Seems legit.

The handling capability of those extra-capacity vans is horrendous even under ideal load and highway conditions.

Per News 14 Evansville, it was a 15 passenger van, with 24 people in it.
They were “temp workers” being taken to a company called Ameriqual, which makes MRE’s and other Vacu-packed foods.
5 are in Critical condition as of 1130PM.

Out here in California, if you can even see one of the 24 thirty seconds after the accident, you know it was real bad.
Generally it’s every man for himself as they scatter across 360 degrees.

I came upon the scene of a fatal crash on I65 South in Indiana some few years ago. The cause was some guy from the Middle East, who was driving a semi somehow, BACKING UP on the highway because he had missed an exit. Another trucker plowed into him and was killed.
Conveniently for us travellers, we were directed off the highway onto the missed exit, and then straight back up the entrance ramp, causing a minimal delay. I did get a glimpse of the crushed cab with a tarp over it.
Nothing to see here.

As soon and I read how many were in the van I knew what they were. Never fails, when you hear of “stuffed” cars and vans the preps are always from south of the border. It never fails.
Worse yet, the owner of the van probably did not have insurance either.

the cheap hotels in my town are packed with cars from Indiana. None of the drivers who stay 3 and 4 in the tiny rooms LOOK like they are from Indianna

I grew up in the area around Washington - while things have changed some there are a lot of Amish in that area that have drivers for work vans. It could be that, or as you say.
