Real-estate developer Donald Trump is now frequently attacking a presidential rival he mostly refrained from criticizing in the past: Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Florida).
During a Thursday morning CNN interview, Trump hit Rubio as a "kid" in a wide-ranging critique.
He first bashed Rubio's credibility as a foreign-policy wonk when asked to compare their knowledge about Syria.
"Marco Rubio sits behind a desk sometimes and he reads stuff," Trump said, according to CNN's transcript. "That's all he does. I create jobs all day long. I'll know more about all of this than all of them put together and believe me, we'll have a winning strategy. If Marco Rubio is good, how come we're doing so badly?"
Trump went on to dismiss the 44-year-old senator's age.
"These guys don't know how to win," he said. "Marco Rubio, he's like a kid. He shouldn't even be running in this race, as far as I'm concerned. He's a kid."
Later in the interview, Trump again called Rubio a "kid" and criticized him for not deferring his candidacy to Jeb Bush, the former Florida governor.
"He's a kid. He has no right I mean, frankly, he was very disloyal to Bush," Trump said. "Bush was his mentor. And everyone said he'd never run because Bush was his mentor. Well, the fact that Bush was his mentor didn't stop this young guy who is overly ambitious from wanting to run. Now Bush looks foolish and he looks like he's a very disloyal guy, frankly."
Earlier in the day during a "Morning Joe" interview, Trump also mocked Rubio for perspiring during last week's presidential debate.

“Marco Rubio: Lets face it, Trump is touchy, insecure, and doesnt know the issues “
Well, for someone like Rubio to claim he does know the issues he sure makes terrible choices for America and Americans. Rubio chooses foreigners over Amerians!
...but has Donald even read those position papers?
...by the way, you do know that Trump was a Charlie Crist supporter in 2010. How’d that judgment work out in light of subsequent events?
I don’t mind Trump saying stuff like this about Republicans, but he should be spending as much time trashing Obola, Hitlery and Comrade Sanders.
Strategy, that is the point.
All of this is very entertaining. The DC crowd is filling their pants.
I will admit that this is the most notable moment of this man's entire political career.
This is the one thing that Marco Rubio has done that had everyone talking the next day, and not one thing else.
And now he is being pushed for president for some unfathomable reason.
What did Rubio say (or do) to set Trump off like this? Must be something.
Who are they?
I don’t see anything in Trump’s past indicating that he will stab me in the back. Rubio is a weasel.
------
No he shouldn't. Obama isn't running, Hillary will be dropping out, Sanders won't get the nomination.
Never heard Rubio talk so tough about Obama! Just what has Rubio accomplished in his term as Senator? Not much.
Rubio got into office thanks to conservatives and the TEA party. The republican establishment insiders club despises the grassroots network that threatens their stranglehold on every political seat out there. They approached Rubio and made him an *offer he couldn’t refuse* by ordering him to join their good old boys club or be destroyed. Part of his initiation into their club was to join the ‘gang of hate’ to push for the invasion of criminal cheap labor (and destruction of our national borders and national sovereignty) to receive their support. Rubio is a sell out. Rubio is a traitor to our country. He is a puppet for the GOPe Uniparty.
Surging?
By a whole half of a point?
It is astonishing. Conservatives weren't like that until recently. Trump did not win this exchange - he does not look good - mature - and no, this is nothing like the way he's gone after the GOP-e and political correctness and so on - this was petty and childish. The intelligent thing to say for a Trump supporter is "love ya Donald, but this was a screw up."
They all screw up. At some point. Why is it so hard (ie impossible) to admit?
Well, the fact that Bush was his mentor didn’t stop this young guy who is overly ambitious from wanting to run.
...
That’s been my criticism of Rubio, he’s nothing but ambition. Not a thing he says can be trusted.
I’ll hand it to Trump. He knows everybody’s weakness.
The guy is good, very good.
Trump only said what I have said for a long time. Rubio is overly ambitious and too young. Anybody that gets so easily suckered by Chuck Schumer is not ready to be President.
What’s the difference between Christ and Rubio?
They are both liars, they are both democrats, they both support the same agenda.
How has Marco Rubio being in the senate benefited anyone in Florida or anyone in America in any way at all?
[”Marco Rubio sits behind a desk sometimes and he reads stuff,” Trump said, according to CNN’s transcript. “That’s all he does. I create jobs all day long. I’ll know more about all of this than all of them put together and believe me, we’ll have a winning strategy. If Marco Rubio is good, how come we’re doing so badly?”]
Pow. Right between the eyes.
This is amazingly stupid and juvenile stuff. Rubio announced before Bush announced - but yes, Rubio refused to "wait his turn" - for the second time, and now Trump is taking up for Bush and trumpeting the establishment's position on Rubio making the decision to run.
I'm sure Trump's supporters will jump right in line like they did when he made positive remarks about Planned Parenthood...even now with him going along with the establishment they supposedly hate so much.
