Jerusalem (AFP) - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Russian President Vladimir Putin have agreed on a plan to avoid "misunderstandings" in Syria amid an apparent military build-up by Moscow to support President Bashar al-Assad.
The two leaders reached an agreement on Monday during talks in Russia, with Israeli media reporting that the discussions involved avoiding clashes between the two militaries' jets over Syria.
"The conversation revolved, first of all, on the issue that I raised regarding Syria, which is very important to the security of Israel," Netanyahu said after the meeting, according to a statement from his office.
"The conversation was substantive. A joint mechanism for preventing misunderstandings between our forces was also agreed to."

How sad Israel has to depend on Russia to help in the area.
This should embarrass the Imam-in-Chief, but he is so full of his own wonderfulness, he cannot see it. And, on the other hand, he does not care about Israel in the least.
Kerry is busy shoring up that Dim. voter base trying to get those refugees in the U.S. before the election.
Pretty telling when the Russia leader has a better relationship with Israel than the occupant in D.C.

Under the circumstances it's what adults do
Netanyahu talked to Putin but Carly wouldn’t as president?
He’s deciding what to wear when he gets his Peace Prize. Just think, Kerry and his boss, Hillary too, have made a life in Europe possible for millions of Muslims.
Yea, disqualifies her right there as being in charge of this country.
Odd that the Russian Federation and Israel are now, almost by necessity, being forced to play on the same team, but their interests are somewhat aligned in this matter. Both are concerned that the US-supported ISIS insurgency is liable to get so far out of hand that it may be impossible to put that genie back in the bottle.
And don’t tell us the US is in any way “fighting” ISIS - the efforts of the Current Regime now squatting in the White, er, “Rainbow” Hut are directed at taking down Bashar al-Assad, which puts the Current Regime on the SAME side as ISIS.
If the US were fighting ISIS, the air strikes would be aimed at bombing the TURKS, who have concentrated their involvement here to pounding the Kurds, who are in fact one of the most determined and effective forces now trying to contain ISIS. That puts the Turks on the side of ISIS, upon which they look with a benign eye, allowing ISIS reinforcements to pour into Syria and Iran while smuggling out trained Islamic jihadists to head toward European countries, installing a fifth column of militants in the hearts of these relatively defenseless countries.
The Kurds were one thrust away from conquering ISIS just a couple of months ago and then Turkey started bombing the Kurds. And while the Kurds do that we bomb ISIS when they attack the Kurds but do nothing when the Turks bomb them. Insanity.
AHHHH I don’t know if I feel good about this......
Israel is with Russia, somehow I feel this isn’t the way things are suppose to be....I can’t explain it, but something is mighty fishy with this situation.....
Debbie Wasserschmuck Schultz sold her soul to the devil in a tearful display of shame.
End Bible Prophecy Ping Magog/ Israel
I think this is interesting
I do not think Russia is helping Israel, Israel wants Bashar al-Assad gone. Russia wants him to remain in control of Syria. Now why Israel wants Assad gone I don’t know. Surely al-Assad is better than ISIS.
That is what happens when our own lamp is put out.
“Now why Israel wants Assad gone I dont know. Surely al-Assad is better than ISIS.”
Israel may have arrived at that same conclusion.
I would hazard a guess and say it goes back to 2007 and the Israeli bombing of Syria's nuclear reactor. Prior to that time it was all "fun and games" with Assad giving support to Hezbollah. However, the point at which Syria demonstrated an existential threat to Israel is when they changed their perspective.
“Israel is with Russia, somehow I feel this isnt the way things are suppose to be....”
This agreement is only about their airplanes - they agree not to shoot down the other country’s planes if they are in proximity with each other.
Agree with your assessment. Or, put another way, does anyone really believe that once Putin gets his planes in place, he's going to allow Israel to cross into Syrian airspace and take out Iranian military?
Anyone?
Assad is in cahoots with Iran, Hezbollah, Hamas and all the other factions in Gaza...And Turkey seems to be riding the fence...They are all enemies of Israel...
Isis is friends with Saudi Arabia...It's a no win situation for Israel...I think they are trying to prolong the inevitable...
