Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers insisted throughout the week that he wouldnt be thinking about anything that had happened in past games with the Seattle Seahawks as the two teams prepared for a rematch.
But after the Packers beat the Seahawks 27-17 in Green Bay Sunday night, Rodgers made a comment that appeared to show some of the history with the Seahawks was on his mind. Specifically, comments Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson made after the NFC Championship game crediting the Seahawks comeback to God.
Asked after the game a question about the Packers have been able to create and deal with a winning culture, Rodgers said, according to the transcript prepared by the team: I just think its a top-down mentality. Its being very confident in the preparation and then getting it all from God. I think God was a Packer fan tonight, so He was taking care of us.

Question: What would the media's reaction be if Russell Wilson were a Muslim who always praised Allah, and Rodgers mocked Allah, instead of God? Think all hell would break loose?
I know dumb question.
How classy of Rodgers. :(
I personally don’t think God gets involved in football games ... and I’m really sure it’s never a good idea to mock God.
Karma.
I don’t see that as mocking God at all. We joke, tongue-in-cheek, all the time that God likes our team. This is nothing new.
Um...this is from The Sore Loser Seattle TIMES!
Aaron wasn’t mocking God. He was talking about Top Down Leadership. WHO is at the top of EVERYTHING?
Yeesh. ‘The Sore Loser Seattle Times.’ (I’m Trademarking that, LOL!)
I kinda agree. Seems to me He has more important stuff on His plate.
God doesn’t care about football games. He cares about our souls. I appreciate Russell Wilson’s dedication to the Lord, but I believe Rodgers was just making light of something Wilson said, not mocking God. I don’t believe it was mean-spirited in any way. At the end of the day, it’s just a game.
I never did like the dousche.
Some Christians treat God as a genie or magic 8 ball. They pray for their team to win. They pray over which car to buy or whether or not to order from the value menu at McDonald’s. I believe God gives us quite a bit of autonomy on the mundane aspects of life.
“And then getting help from God. I think God was a Packers fan tonight, so he was taking care of us”
God does favor the Green Bay Packers, it is obvious.
Following his graduation from Pleasant Valley High School in Chico, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers attended Butte College and was the starting quarterback for the Butte College Roadrunners in 2002. He led the Roadrunners to a 10-1 record, a NorCal Conference championship, and a No. 2 national ranking. Rodgers threw for 30 touchdowns and was named Nor-Cal Conference Player of the Year.
In his team intros he mentions Butte College mot Berkely
Only a Seahawks fan, that remembers intimate nuances from last year, would make this connection. I like Rogers but don’t think he is quite that clever. I will give the BoD to Rogers and assume he is speaking as a man who also has faith in God.
It is the Seattle Times. I expect they have some antimosity hangover this morning.
It’s my opinion.
“Mocking God” is NOT in the title!!
You have to understand the context. Russell Wilson said God was a Seahawks fan when they miraculously won last year in the playoffs..so yes it Was a jab
Aaron Rodgers does some amazing things for kids ,etc so this is just searching for things.
bttt
I dont think God cares a whole lot about the outcome. He cares about the people involved, but I dont think hes a big football fan.
How does that mock Him? He is right. God doesn't care about the point spread.
How does Rogers boyfriend feel, excuse me, girlfriend?
It is just a bad joke - get over it people.
That's it?
It's a very mild joke... I'm sure God is big enough to take it.
He was mocking Wilson. Get a grip.
Good QB but it does sound like he’s got a few issues. I think he’s trying to be funny... but unfortunately he’s not a funny guy. Play football and leave the stand-up comedy to the professionals, Aaron
