The Arby’s employee who was suspended more than two weeks ago for allegedly refusing to serve a police officer is still getting a paycheck from the company, two weeks after the incident.
A spokesman for Arby’s told The Daily Caller News Foundation that the company and the employee, Kenneth Davenport, 19, mutually agreed that the he would go on temporary paid leave.
“That’s where things stand at this point,” Jason Rollins, an Arby’s spokesman, told TheDCNF.
The entire scandal started when a Florida police department publicly complained saying one of their female officers was refused service at an Arby’s, simply because she was a cop.
The officer, Jennifer Martin, said she was refused service by Davenport at the Arby’s and when she asked the manager why, he said it was because she was a cop.
The Pembroke Pines police chief demanded an apology and caused a public relations nightmare for the company. Arby’s fired the manager of the store and suspended the employee involved, but Rollins told The DCNF Davenport is still getting paid.
The employees have since said the entire incident was a misunderstood joke and that he was just too busy to serve her.
He has since said he doesn’t hate police. Arby’s gave the officer a refund and has apologized. Arby’s offered free food to police officers in two Florida counties as a way to save face after the incident, but local news could only find one officer who took the offer.
“We once again apologize to the police officer involved and the Dade-Broward County police community for this isolated incident,” the company said in a statement. “Arby’s has always been and will always continue to be a champion of the police in every community across America.”
I ate at Arby’s once.

NOTHING on their menu looked or tasted like roast beef.
How do they stay in business?
Why would anyone eat there anyway. All their meat is processed.
Was race involved or does this person hate cops of any color? I’d suspect race is somehow involved to generate this level of hate.
“Perhaps Arby’s did do SOMETHING to rectify this incident, but a short suspended while being paid to sit on your a** is hardly a disciplinary action, he may as well go to Disney World and feed the Rat.”

let us suppose hypothetically, umm, I hate black people and i will not serve them. What are the odds that I am suspended WITh pay, Exactly zero - end of discussion.

My understanding is the employee is innocent. It was the manager who caused the incident.
How does one go on temporary paid leave from a minimum wage job?
I haven't eaten at Arby's in over 30 years. The meat was nasty, foul tasting. This police officer should count herself lucky they didn't serve her. Who knows what they would have done to her food before handing it over to her?
some employers do not withhold money from employees under investigation. The investigation is to find out what happened. It can take time to gather evidence and interview people. Courts have ruled that property cannot be taken without due process as stated in the constitution. Some courts have said that unless you are on probation you have a property right to the job unless laid off. After the investigation employees may be fire or suspended and then their pay stops.
Well, it’s not as if I’m going to miss going to Arbys. I already didn’t because the food sucks.
Gee, I guess the thugs know which Arbys to rob huh? The one that the cops will not respond to.

Because various people have different tastes from you. Because Arby's probably sells more chicken sandwiches than beef.
Because some of us who remember when the Raffel Brothers opened their Roast Beef fast food restaurant called Arby's ("R" - "B", get it?) in Atlanta in the 1960's and miss the big steamboat round of genuine roast beef have gotten over that. We go to Arby's on occasion for the other sandwiches (Cordon Bleu, Chicken Bacon Swiss and French Dip & Swiss) and those great potato cakes.
But the main reason is the health food they sell, known as the Apple Turnover!
These days I don't eat out as much, so I can boycott Arby’s. No problem.
Just another black getting a handout for doing nothing.
The manager? Fired. The employee/perp? Paid suspension. Must be white privilege again. /s
