A Bellevue butcher is learning first hand that promoting your business through Facebook can make you vulnerable to more than bad reviews.
The owner of Golden Steer Choice Meats just wanted to expand his presence on social media like so many other companies do. But the Facebook reviews became so vicious, he realized the problem was more than just a few angry customers.
John Dick said when he updated the business' Facebook page a few weeks ago, the store was enjoying 5-star endorsements. This week, the business' rating plummeted.
"I'm like 'Wow, what did I do?'" said Dick. "I must have made someone really mad. It was just a bunch of one star ratings by seven or eight different people."
Kristina Foley, along with other friends and customers, defended the butcher online and realized most of the critics were from out of state. The reviewers seemed to be part of an organized attack with a purpose.
"When you looked at their pages, they're all vegans," said Foley. "And I'm like that's not fair. You need to let people know your personal agenda is your personal agenda."

We can do 2 things:
1) Make this go viral and shutdown the veganazi cyberstalkers 2) Give him 5* reviews to make his rating as high as possible.
Remember: his only crime is selling MEAT!
Got to throw their zealots some red meat
Got to throw their zealots some red meat
” Give him 5* reviews to make his rating as high as possible. “
I despise how shallow our culture has become. Ficticious bad ratings to be nuetralized by ficticious good ratings.
Reality is now virtual.
Order some meat.
Even though I am a vegetarian (not vegan), I visited their FB page and gave a 5* rating and left a message.
They had 240 1* ratings, obviously from the bullies. They had almost 900 5*, which gave them about a 4.1*. They need more 5’s to cancel out the fake ratings.
This is a small private business. Hard enough to compete with the big guys who offer convenience. Let’s support them.
Trust me vegans eat meat, they just don't chew it........usually 8^ )
“Order some meat”
I will do exactly that! I am here at Corp Housing for a few more months so I can do with some choice cuts.
>>Vegan bullies!<<
I have been following the 1* rationgs and a guy there has pointed out that the comments are beyond opinion and into the area of libel.
Things like “rotten,” “flies,” “stink, “STOLEN GOODS” — these are actionable.
I am going to try to reach the owner and make a strong suggestion he find and sue everyone who made a material libelous statement. I would include FB since it is suborning libel.
Oh man, they do more bulk than I can do in my hotel room — I would have to stay a year to do 20# of ground beef!
But if anyone else can order the quantities all, read the 5* (which are many of locals) ratings. This sounds like a great place to use for quantity!
Really good butcher. We shop there often.
Last week they took my kiddo on a tour of the freezer and discussed different cuts of meat.
Will have to give them more business.
I clicked "Like" on Facebook. Thanks freedumb2003.
Just because it hasn’t come to mass bloodshed, yet, don’t let yourself not recognize that we are in a war.
In war, you gotta do what you gotta do. I know that’s not real popular with our moral coward hand-wringer types, but they are the very reason we’re in this war now to begin with.
