The appeal of Donald Trump to angry low information voters
examiner.com ^ | 9 9 2015

Aside from being a loud egomaniacal celebrity showman, there are a number of reasons why Donald Trump is leading his GOP rivals with the support of a far-right segment of the Republican Party aka the Trumpsters.

Let's begin with the fact that most Trumpsters are birthers and STILL believe that President Obama is a Muslim born in Kenya. I kid you not. Public Policy Polling ("PPP") just released the results of their new poll showing that 61 percent of Trump's supporters still don’t believe President Obama was born in America and 62 percent think he is a secret Muslim who has lied about his true religious affiliation, and 63 percent want the U.S. Constitution amended to end birthright citizenship.

However, while these percentages are higher than those of the overall GOP electorate polled by PPP, a majority of Republicans still agreed on two out of the three: 54 percent thought Obama was a Muslim, and 51 percent supported ending birthright citizenship, while only 44 percent still believe Obama wasn’t born in the U.S.

This ignorance despite the FACT that the President’s campaign in 2008 posted his legal birth certificate showing a live birth in Honolulu, Hawaii on August 4th, 1961; despite the fact that President Obama has for over 20 years professed to be a devout Christian and spoken publicly of his "personal relationship with Jesus Christ"; despite no sightings of the President attending a mosque, no pictures of him reading the Koran, or praying to Mecca, or observing Islamic holidays with his family. Most Americans know this nonsense was largely driven by Trump and the racist ignorant birther myth feeds right into the right-wing’s hate for this President.

Oh, I am angry. But not lofo. In fact I am angry enough that I would vote for Trump over any democrat knowing I would live to regret it. But I would prefer Cruz.

In fact it was none other than Rush Limbaugh who coined the term, wasn’t it?

Funny they like these folks to watch their reality shows but when the
Donald makes election debates a reality it’s a different story.

I'm so sick of this LIV shit. I wish Rush had never used it. But when he did he was referring to voters voting for democrats.

Thanks to Trump, record numbers of people are getting informed and hearing what they've always known to be true like never before which means they aren't LIV...And they're flocking to him in droves.

Thank you for being here at this time Donald, otherwise our only choices would once again be the lesser of evils...As to the other candidates, not one of them is worthy and especially the wimpy hypocrite/faux conservative, (maybe even traitor) Ted Cruz after him standing up for Obama and Iran voting for the Corker bill.

Yeh possibly it is El Rushbo who coined that term since he used it a lot back when it was new. I always thought it LIV a nice way of saying voters who are idiots.

Ok, first off all, I didn’t call you any names so keep your juvenile insults to yourself. Secondly, Obama, Mcconnell and Boener also said a lot of stuff that sounded good to a lot of people and they were all lies. The fell back on the exact BS their past habits promised us they would. Oddly enough, Trump had a position just not too long ago that he supported “assault” weapon bans and longer waiting periods for firearm purchases. you choose to believe his new, convenient and magic position on the issue. Good for you. Maybe do a little thinking before you fly off like a 12 year old with that uncalled for baloney.

There are not enough high information DT supporters to ever convince them

DT does not engage in attempting to convince them.

My lib friends (childhood friends, cousins with whom we’ve agreed to disagree and to not talk politics) complain loud about Trump, they see him winning they even say it, when they say idiotic things about him and his supporters is when I practice my ever improving art of changing the subject.

They are pissed. But remarkably, not scared, like they were with W

And they have nothing with which to defend Obama. They have nothing good to say about obama. Nor his wife. Nor his staff.

They have educations. They are LIV precisely because they refuse to read conservative views. We read the tripe line put out. These people demand that we see them as informed because, I heard recently , ‘I watch MSNBC’

And they’re all New Yorkers. They are aware of Trump from way back

One said to me this week, ‘Donald Trump is going to be the next president, ay yai Yai! You know’ she said, ‘he inherited all his money from his father’

A smart woman, saying this. I can not engage. Not only will she be put to shame, she won’t take it. She’ll scream at me. Once they start with the emotion, the libs, I’ve gone too far

He is worth 9 billion, or close enough for him to claim that. His father did well in NYC real estate 200 million. That’s just not 9 billion

You can’t reach them. You cannot convince them. But you can take control of the country back from them and put it back into the hands of we the people via the rule of law and the founding principals. And we’d better do it

Guys like trump know instinctively when they’re dealing with a lost cause

Whoa, whoa, whoa! You post something to inform us little people, then you get butthurt when someone calls you on being supercilious?

You can fall back on politicians being politicians to excuse your acting like Trump isn’t a different breed of cat, but the bottom line is don’t post stupid things if you don’t want to be called stupid.

More condescending nonsense.

The purported Birth Certificate is a clear fake—there is no evidence of any nature that he was born in Hawaii and the continued effort to get the electorate to accept one of a series of fake birth certificates raises a pretty clear inference that he wasn’t born anywhere else in the US either.

There is evidence on his place of birth; it is the best evidence on the subject available—that real evidence is his authorized public bio used in connection with his early state races and his numerous oral statements to campaign gatherings in Illinois all stating that he was born in Kenya—so you really can’t blame people for thinking that is where he was in fact born.

Now people who do know what the true state of affairs is do have a pretty good indication that he was not born in Kenya either. But the bottom line is that there is no hard evidence on the record anywhere proving where he was born other than his claim of Kenya.

Moslem? Judge not. That said however his policies support Islamic aggression, murder, and an effort to impost Moslem immigrants on US Culture at the expense of the historic Judeo Christian Culture which is the foundation of our country and legal system.

As part of an effort to nullify his many excesses, the next President should direct appointment of a Special Prosecutor to investigate the true facts—if born outside the United States, Barry is not eligible to hold the office of President and we have abundant Supreme Court law that a person who is not eligible does not exercise the power of office (unlike a person who is certified as elected over procedural or other errors in the process).

Barry cannot be eligible if born outside the US. If his mother was Stanley Ann Dunham, she would have conferred citizenship at birth only if she had resided in the US for five years after age 14; since she was only 18 at the time of birth, Barry could not have been a citizen if born outside the US.

His real mother was a not a US citizen and there is no theory on which he would have received citizenship at birth.

So all of his acts in office which require the authority of a President are void—Supreme Court appointments; Judicial appointments; signature approving legislation which would have been pocket vetoed had it not been signed; all void and inoperative.

“...10 minutes on your favorite search engine exposes what Trump really is... and a conservative he is not. Not even close.”

I agree, though I do like some of his professed ideas. In my opinion, Cruz is the only viable candidate out there.
