ONWARD CHRISTIAN SOLDIERS

Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus going on before;
Christ, the royal Master, leads against the foe;
Forward into battle see His banners go.

Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus going on before.

At the sign of triumph Satan's host doth flee;
On then, Christian soldiers, on to victory.
Hell's foundations quiver at the shout of praise;
Brothers lift your voices proud your anthems raise.

Like a mighty army moves the church of God;
Brothers, we are treading where the saints have trod;
We are not divided, all one body we,
One in hope and doctrine, one in charity.

What the saints established that I hold for true;
What the saints believed, that I believe too.
Long as earth endureth, men the faith will hold;
Kingdoms, nations, empires, in destruction rolled.

Crowns and thrones may perish, kingdoms rise and wane,
But the church of Jesus constant will remain;
Gates of hell can never gainst that church prevail;
We have Christ's own promise, and that cannot fail.

Onward then, ye people, join our happy throng,
Blend with ours your voices in the triumph song;
Glory, laud, and honour unto Christ the King;
This through countless ages men and angels sing.

Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus going on before.

"Onward, Christian Soldiers” was written in 1865 with no intention of ever being published, especially in adult hymn books. Rev. Sabine Baring-Gould, its author, was at that time the curate of a parish in Yorkshire county in the north of England. "It was written in great haste, and I am afraid some of the rhymes are faulty. Certainly nothing has surprised me more than its great popularity."

In 1871 Arthur Sullivan wrote the tune “St. Gertrude” for the hymn, which further popularized the hymn and has ever since been its standard melody.

And you’ve been solo before with great success.

I’m fighting my computer. Firefox quit!

Rebooting and trying IE. Then I find Mom in the kitchen, trying to microwave a dinner...90 seconds, but I can see that almost 6 MINUTES are on the timer. Think I rescued that in time and got her set to eat.

I need to write the instructions in LARGE letters and help her practice. (I told her earlier I would help, but....)

Take good care of yourself...no getting sick.

To those of the generation used to REALLY cooking with REAL heat, it is very hard to imagine that a complete chicken can be ready in 20 minutes, or that a frozen casserole ready in 2.

I, old as I am, have mastered the art of space age technology when it comes to reheating leftovers! LOL!

God Bless you and yours.

She can’t stand long enough to cook anymore, so if I’m not here the microwave option would be good as it sits on the counter and she can use it from her wheel chair. BUT...with her diminished vision, she hasn’t figured out the buttons. I need to figure out a way so it will work for her. I used sticky arrows on the dishwasher.

The microwave is my best friend. LOL!
