Washington (CNN)Donald Trump came under fire Thursday night for his handling of a question at a town hall about when the U.S. can "get rid" of Muslims, for failing to take issue with that premise and an assertion that President Barack Obama is Muslim.
"We have a problem in this country. It's called Muslims," an unidentified man who spoke at a question-and-answer town hall event in Rochester, New Hampshire asked the mogul. "You know our current president is one. You know he's not even an American."
A seemingly bewildered Trump interrupted the man, chuckling, "We need this question. This is the first question."
"Anyway, we have training camps growing where they want to kill us," the man, wearing a "Trump" T-shirt, continued. "That's my question: When can we get rid of them?"

Its not just CNN.
AP and NBC are going bat-sh!t crazy over it too.
Gotta protect their boy Obama
Check out Fox News too, IMO they have now fallen right in line with the rest of the networks. I was reading somewhere, possible here on Free Republic, that Donald Trump should buy his own news network so the truth could be told to the people, it surely isn’t coming from Fox News anymore.
Mr. Obama recalled the opening lines of the Arabic call to prayer, reciting them with a first-rate accent. In a remark that seemed delightfully uncalculated (itll give Alabama voters heart attacks), Mr. Obama described the call to prayer as one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at sunset.

Cruz likes Trump so is Cruz a puppet? What is Cruz’ stand on Anchor babies? He seemed kind of shaky in the debate on that question since he is a constitutional lawyer. Trump is rock solid on that and more conservative.
Are you for Anchor babies being given citizenship immediately?
As far as I know, Obama has never been asked if he ever received aid as a foreign student.
“Never. The thought formed in his mind about his FAITH. No way anyone inserts the wrong faith in an assertive statement. Although he is essentially atheist, his default mindset/worldview/religion is Islam, because muslims hate America like he does. His racism also attracts him to Islam.”
I think you are right. Mindset is Muslim. He was raised a Muslim in Indonesia.
You are not doing Cruz any favors with your continual put down of Trump.
This is a thread on the one issue about the audience member making a comment about Obama’s religion and the Muslim training camps in this country. If you want to talk about Cruz, why don’t you say what you believe is Cruz’s views on the man’s question or better yet, get Cruz to reply to the man’s legitimate question about the training camps and Obama’s mindset on the Muslim religion. The reply will probably be similar to Trump’s.
These people trying to bring The Trumpenkrieg down are throwing spitballs at a tank.
The questioner made a correct statement
Trump answered the man’s question and moved on.
If the Democrats do not like it let them one, produce a REAL births certificate and two, let Obama denounce his Muslim faith using the “word” that Muslims use.
Then let every Muslim hunt him down and cut his sorry a$$ head off if they can catch him. Hit....look for Reggie or on hole 8.
Fair enough. Just as he misunderstood Hugh Hewitt's reference to the Quds force as a reference to the "Kurds" force? Nothing that the latest hearing-aid technology couldn't fix?
In 08 when McCain started “correcting” the people at his meetings, his poll numbers dropped.
Watch Trump’s poll numbers go up.
The events reflected Mr. McCains frequently lurching campaign. For the past several weeks, as the polls have shown Mr. Obama, the Democratic nominee, gaining increasing ground, Mr. McCains traveling road show has veered from message to message and from pumping up hostile crowds to trying to calm them down. Each news cycle seems to bring another tactic as the campaign appears to be trying anything and everything to see what might work.
His temporary embrace of Mr. Obama came as Mr. McCain was repeatedly implored by voters at the town-hall-style meeting to fight back against Mr. Obama at the next presidential debate, on Wednesday, and to stop him from becoming president. But unlike at an earlier town-hall-style meeting this week in Wisconsin, where Mr. McCain sharply agreed with voters who urged him to punch back, this time he drew a line.
When a man told him he was scared of an Obama presidency, Mr. McCain replied, I want to be president of the United States and obviously I do not want Senator Obama to be, but I have to tell you I have to tell you he is a decent person and a person that you do not have to be scared” of “as president of the United States. The crowd booed loudly at Mr. McCains response.
Later, a woman stood up at the meeting, held at Lakeville South High School in a far suburb of Minneapolis, and told Mr. McCain that she could not trust Mr. Obama because he was an Arab.
Mr. McCain replied: No, maam, hes a decent family man, citizen who I just happen to have disagreements with on fundamental issues. And thats what this campaign is all about.
Trump didn’t say he didn’t hear the question. His campaign manager said that. Whether he did or didn’t hear the Obama-is-a-Muslim part is really not that important. He let the man ask the question about the Muslim training camps. And said he would look into it.
When we see that Europe is being overrun with Muslim refugees where the majority are young fighting age Muslims showing disrespect to the countries letting them stay, shows us what we are in store for our own country.
You can put Trump down all you want, but he is allowing us to question the wisdom of the government under Obama.
soebarkha is an enemy islamist.
Thanks for posting that bit of history on McCain.
Ok, I just liked Trump just a little more.
I’ve actually vacillated on who to support. I was thinking about Ben Carson and sent him money since Donald doesn’t need it. But when Carson made his Ferguson comment, second guessing the policeman who was exonerated by the Grand Jury, I doubted his sincerity. He was fanning the flames of Ferguson when it had died down.
So I’m back to the Trump camp and I’m planning to stay after the Q&A session last night.
“Media will go crazy on this. Sounds like a set up. Trump needs to watch out for these ambushes.”
I’m not entirely sure who’s ambushing who here. It could be that Trump wanted a question like this to start discussing the problems with Muslims, knowing the media’s predictable reaction — just like what happened with his comments over illegals back in June. The media goes crazy trying to protect their “boy”, most of the other GOP candidates trip all over themselves rushing to defend Obama (Christie was first out of the gate, which is no surprise), and meanwhile, most Americans are frustrated and they know something’s not right with the way Obama gives favorable treatment to Muslims, respects Iran’s leaders more than Bibi, etc. The media will try to claim this will “finally” sink Trump, but I predict that if they make a big deal out of this, Trump’s lead grows, Carly’s momentum is stopped, and Trump stays comfortably on top until the next debate.
That’s what I’ve been wondering. Is Trump that smart or is he just being un politically correct. Whichever it is, he’s getting my attention and vote.
Trump knows where to throw the grenades for best effect.
I suspect he learned what happens when you endorse your election opponent (McLame: October 2008).
