She’s right about Huck, he could be very helpful by dropping out and coaching Cruz on personal issues. That won’t happen spontaneously, because Mike remains envious and insecure about Cruz’s popularity with the same demographic.
Sad to hear that Walker failed (again!) to make a lasting impression at the debate. He may be pulling up a seat at the Kiddie Table with the B and C students next time.
“Trump grimaced and rolled his eyes, but offered no substantive rebuttal. Rubio has a nice way of dispensing with an opponent without sounding angry.”
TRUE. probably one of the few Freepers who pointed it out, even though I;m a semi fan of Trump but I give credit where it’s due: Rubio did an outstanding job on foreign policy which is
KILL TERRORISTS.
Trump I cant believe it fidget around the simple concept on killing terrorists. It’s NON NEGOTIABLE: destroy them. It;s like he didn’t give a sh*t about ISIS.
I remember when Trump brought up North Korea, and people got confused. Yet I am glad he brought it up. We can’t lose sight of So Ronery, Jr, with all this Iranian BS going on. But these two are related, and we can’t forget that.
That would be fantastic, and I believe at some point that The Sleeper (Ginsburg) has got to retire.
Some folks just never get it!!! I’ll tell you one who does not get it....Karl Rove!!! Trump rules...CNN, Salem Communications & the GOP (E) RINOs failed miserably. For those short on brains.....Check the activity in the Senate this morning by GOP(e) RINO leader, Mitch McConnell and his GOP RINO whimps.
Harry Reid,...the real Senate leader spanked him again. Now...if McConnell had the guts to invoke the “Nuclear Option”, we would have won....but, he is too busy being warm & cozy in Obama’s pocket!!! We gave the GOP (e) RINOs the Senate...thy gave us Harry Reid and Obama!!! That is why...”The Donald” looks like he is teflon!!! It is as simple as that...folks!!!
Trump won because he kept Bush on the mat.
Carson and Fiorina will not be the nominee. They cannot withstand the scrutiny to their statements and records.
If I had to bet, I would say Trump made a big step towards the nomination last night. He was relatively calm and people like Bush , Kasich and Rubio couldn’t make headway.
Just FYI, if you believed the non scientific, online Drudge polls (or any other of the same type) you should still be shocked Ron Paul isn't president. Paul used to win those polls routinely. They are entirely and completely meaningless.
Perhaps people saw and heard what they wanted to see and hear.
I thought the big losers were Megyn Kelley and Fox. Last night, the questioning as it was handled gave us a lot more insight into the strengths and weaknesses of each candidate than the mess Fox created did.
They stuck to the 30 second rebuttal for any candidate that was specifically named. About half way through most of the others caught on. The reason Trump got so much time is every time someone attacked him, it was 30 seconds more for which he owned the stage. I thought the net result was they showed some bonding toward the end, especially that vaccine dialog and the agreement that vaccines should be spread out (has any media outlet reported it that way?)
Jeb did awful! He said John Roberts is a good SC judge, for heaven's sake! I agree that Rubio did handle the debate very well. Kasich did himself in. Trump has to up his game with more facts and less insults, since the others have improved.
JMHO
I didn’t know that about Huckabee, but I guess if they’re both targeting the Evangelicals, that could be a conflict. But I don’t think Huckabee has any traction, except that he did well last night.
And Walker’s inability to connect surprised me too. He has great ideas, but maybe he’d be better as a Cabinet level person.
..... Caitlyn Jenner...
Why do conservatives have such love affairs with people who come across as idiotic and dumb?
Palin and now Trump.
Can we not have a candidate that actually sounds intelligent?
Seriously, you don’t understand the significance of an on-line poll?
I just think it is funny that everyone here said he was going to wipe the stage with the others.....he is a debate expert after all. What a bunch of crap.......excuses that are give to him are legendary. He deserves none of it.
I agree that the CNN format left a lot to be desired, with giving candidates a chance to respond every time their name was mentioned in a comment. But with 11 people on the state I can imagine how it could ever be good.
Rubio and Paul head to the "loser's bracket", as well. Rubio didn't set himself apart enough to get into the race. Paul's articulation of his marijuana position made him looked weak on law and order (which Christie seized on).
Marginal -- Christie and Cruz unfortunately. I don't think Christie's "hey, I'm a conservative, too" schtick played well. Cruz, says the right things and makes good points, but I think CNN successfully marginalized him to keep him from looking like a true contender.
Trump was a winner because he didn't lose the nomination last night. I don't think he particularly helped his cause, but he didn't screw up.
Sundance last night said that every word Carly spoke, every inflection, gesture, is a repeat of what she has said and done before. Practice ...practice.
However I did like what she said about PP - practiced or not. Impossible not to react to what she described and I’m glad there were 24 million to hear it.
I don’t trust Rubio 2 feet. Woman’s intuition. Yeah, he sounds good, he looks good, that’s how he puts food on the table. Rubio sort of gives me the same feeling that Bill Clinton did and unlike most women I couldn’t stand him.
Donald Trump, as usual, was boorish and didnt give substantive answers to important questions
OK, so this'll get me flamed here on FR, but that's some spot-on analysis, right there.
Boorish? Who cares. What's important is that when he's asked a question about nearly any topic, Trump "Has a plan. A Superior Plan. We'll get some of the BEST PEOPLE to implement this superior plan. And we'll make America Great Again!"
In both debates, he sounded like a carnival huckster, with about as much substance.
I like the fact that he's moving the field to the right, and that he's bringing up topics that need to be discussed. He just needs to add detail. What plan? What good people? When? How? In a good debate, these would be followup questions. Instead, we had the debacle on FOX, and last night's three hours of "Candidate X, Trump said something mean about you last week. Care to respond?"
Cruz was the only one who didn't play CNN's game - "I'll let that candidate talk about his record. Let me tell you about mine...". The rest of the field looked more trivial for engaging in the playground politics.
On board with your assessment except Rubio did not connect for me. Maybe my expectations for him are too high since at the beginning of the cycle I expected a lot from him. There is something lacking in strength with his delivery.
Also, we need a president who can line out our legislators and he has not been a fighter. He’s rarely been there for the fights Cruz has taken on. He, like so many others, has been intimidated by McConnell.
Top people!
Retire in reference to Ginsburg is die!!
