CHRISTIANSBURG (WSLS 10) About 20 Christiansburg High School students were suspended Thursday after wearing clothing with the Confederate Flag on it. wearing clothing with the Confederate Flag on it.
Montgomery County Public Schools spokeswoman Brenda Drake says 22 or 23 students came to school violating the dress code. Drake says they were given the opportunity to comply with the dress code, but refused so they were given one day of in school suspension (ISS).
Drake says the students became disruptive in ISS and refused to follow school rules so the majority of them were given one day of out of school suspension.
A few students said they would follow the rules of ISS, said Drake, and they were allowed to stay in ISS.
This comes as a new policy was put in place preventing students from displaying the Confederate flag or decal on their cars. This is something they must agree to in a contract before receiving a parking pass.
The change was made to be more in unison with the schools dress code.
School leaders say while a school division is not allowed to ban a specific symbol, each individual school can ban what they deem to be offensive.
An offensive symbol is determined by an incident that disrupts the education of students during the school day.
4. Be wary of taking the claims of this or any news story as factual.
5. Enjoy!
The more important story (it seems to me) is that of banning decals on cars in the parking lot:

Why do they not go ahead and file assault charges on the kid, lock him up to stand trial?
Flag-waving is akin to treason nowadays.
Banning the Rebel flag will not change minds, but rather harden them.
They are our rival high school.
The county banned the use of “mascots depicting religion or ethnicity”. We were, of course, the Indians so we became the Bruins.
The CHS mascot is the Blue Demons. They kept their mascot.
Next door in Giles County, they banned the 10 Commandments display from the school. Now you can’t get to the school without passing several displays of the 10 Commandments, including a truck trailer with the display. I suspect this will happen to CHS.
Bull$hit. Liberals control the schools. They are telling us what they will do when they get complete power.
Interesting that they aren’t banning Mexican flags. In fact, the courts have upheld other cases where kids were punished for wearing the American flag on Cinco de Mayo because it offended Mexicans in American schools.
What if they wore UN flag T-shirts? “World citizens” would get a pass.
Each of these students should nitpick at the slightest little thing that they could claim as offensive by every other student. Then push the issue hard. Show them how stupid and petty the whole banning things can be.
Good advice.
“”””each individual school can ban what they deem to be offensive.””””
‘They’ is the big word here. Depends on who ‘they’ are and who ‘they’ say it offends.
Who says it offends anyone? Obviously ‘they’.
Who would be suspended? The t-shirt wearer, or the persons claiming offensiveness?
Oh No!
Now you're the Ursan-Americans!
When did Godless liberals invade Giles and and Montgomery counties and the rest of southwest Virginia?
What’s next? Abolishing cows from Va Tech? Beer bellies? Pickup trucks? Appalachian accents?
The students should file complaints against anyone wearing a red shirt or tie - since red is the color of commies and totalitarians.
Ban RED!

It certainly has down here in the deep South.
Sounds like they all get a trip to the White house! That’s what happens to kids who are unjustly booted out of school, right?
