"Paul later told me he thinks he has found an approach that will separate Trump from the rest of the GOP field: eminent domain. A hallmark of Republicans is that they respect private property. But Trump runs roughshod over it, he said. He is a serious abuser of taking property for his private benefit.

If you wanted to PROVE to everyone that you're an idiot, you just did! Congrats. Have a good time back at DU; they love Kelo over there too.
Cult of personality worship isn't just confined to the left.
I detest Rand Paul. So he’s out to “get” Trump? Good luck, lightweight.
Oh, I got the two confused. Lewandowski, the GOPe hack amnesty shill is the manager. Stone was the one who advised Sharpton. Stone was “fired/quit,” but then it was revealed he is still working with Trump. But he was never the manager.
How is he a libertarian? I think his track record of the opposite of a libertarian?
Had to go back a few years for that one. It’s not a matter of purity of ideal. It’s a matter of understanding what will benefit his supporters most.
If the GOPe understood that simple concept and that they are elected by voters not the people who have purchased them, we would not be having a negotiator like Trump as our next President. As long as people believe he will act for the people not against them, there is nothing standing in his way. The path was paved by our elected politicians.
All is Trump has to do is say he used the laws on the books to his advantage.
I wish Trump would get ready for the little guy and research who voted for that eminent domain law and who was the President who signed off on it. I would bet the Rinos and Demonrats both supported it because they are bought by Corporations. Then he could respond with a list of Corporations and groups that have bought Rand Paul.
Who the hell are you to force her to move?!
Wrong pronoun aside, she was not forced to move.
Where did you come up with that ?
No. What I was saying is that Trump had a right to try to purchase her land. He had a right to use legal means to get her to accept a deal.
She had the right not to accept. She didn't accept. He lost.
Story over.
Trump gave up, because his casino went down the tubes.
Funny you mention it - there was a thread just yesterday giving Trump attaboys for coming out against corporate CEO pay. In that thread someone actually quoted Marx in support of his stance, and nobody could quite tell if he was being tongue-in-cheek.
Eminent domain for crony capitalists is bad...until Trump does it, and then it’s noble.
Getting shaken down then paying off Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton is cowardice...until Trump does it, then it’s “smart business.”
Planned Parenthood is evil, and life is the most important issue we face as a country...until Trump says they do good things for “the women”, and then social issues are a distraction.
I feel like Boehner and Mitch are missing out on a real opportunity - they should make a deal with Trump that they will pay him in camera time at every debate and convention (the only currency he truly values) between now and the election, and he’ll just parrot whatever they say. FReepers would trip over themselves toasting the Ohio River Geniuses.
Your definition of "rights" is as perverted as the left's.
Are you saying that anything the government can get away with is, "legal," no matter what the Constitution or the law says?
When President Obama signed the immigration executive order was that, "legal means?" Were the other times he broke the law, "legal means." Because he got away with them.
Was the Supreme Court ruled on ACA and gay marriage, "legal means," just because they wanted to, and they got away with it?
Basically, the new law is the government can do anything they want, and as long as they get away with it, it's "legal means."
Maybe CEO pay is too high. But I can’t imagine anything the government can do that won’t make the problem worse.
“Not really a good argument.”
Here’s a better one for you:
What does eminent domain have to do with illegal immigration?
But you see the bigger point, don’t you? I frankly agree with you (and Trump, for that matter) on that. I also agree with Trump on the gay marriage being settled law issue vis a vis the clerk in Kentucky. 99% of the people here disagree with Trump, me, and the handful of candidates who have spoken out on it. We get castigated as RINOs. Trump is lionized as a smart politician. FOR THE EXACT SAME OPINION.
Just like with this eminent domain tripe - if any other candidate came out with even a lukewarm endorsement of certain corporate eminent domain (such as for railroads or pipelines) they would be branded as old time land barrons. Trump tried to take an old woman’s house from her for a damn limosine parking lot, and she’s the greedy, unreasonable one.
Actually, for me, this has been a major concern of mine some time now. Mr. Trump doesn’t seem to have any problem at all with the Kelo decision. I and many other conservatives do.
Ol’ Al just does not look healthy.
