The travesty of Rick Perry's failed campaign
The Week ^ | Sept. 14th, 2015 | Michael Brendan Dougherty

Posted on 09/14/2015 9:08:15 AM PDT by italyconservative

Rick Perry dropping out of the 2016 presidential race is a damn shame. It's an indictment of Republican voters, who express a preference for entertainers and oddities, of the Republican Party apparatus that allowed Perry to languish at a "kid's table" debate, and the media institutions that spent more time talking about Donald Trump's hat than the success of governors.

A candidate’s true personality comes out when he/she is losing an election. Rick Perry seemed to be a mean hombre.

Rick Perry’s record in Texas is the record of the state legislature and Lt. Gov.. The Governor of the state of Texas is less powerful than the Lt.Gov.

None the less, voters want the sting the crap outta the republican establishment and we’re doing a fine job to date.

Lovin it.

Bottom line: On the day that Rick Perry Savaged Donald Trump...he destroyed his political career!!! Coming up soon....the downfall of Rand Paul, Bobby Jindal, Carly Fiorina, Scott Walker, Jeb Bush, Jim Gilmore, Rick Santorum, Mike Huckabee, John Kasich, Lindsey Graham and George Pataki. Survivors, Donald Trump, Ben Carson, Ted Cruz!!!

Perry is a great guy in person. He is very personable and very smart. He was just tone deaf when it came to immigration and when speaking in public he comes off as just another pre-programmed politician.

Trump has changed the game with the way he speaks to people. His Unscripted and off the cuff way of communication makes the rest of the people running for president seem like robots. They are that way because they are not their own person. Trump is right that they are ALL controlled by donors and lobbyists.

Perry is out of the race because he was not believable anymore as are all of the professional politicians. Trump has turned them in to wind up dolls that spew what they have been trained to spew.

Being able to successfully assemble, launch, lead and run a campaign is a key criteria that primary season is designed to evaluate.

Perry came up short, proving that the system works. At least in his case.

It’s Rick Perry’s job to convince me to vote for him. It’s not my fault he failed at his job.

Excellent analogy; and I think Perry was a Dukakis backer after algore fizzled out; then Perry switched parties.

Rick Perry is a democrat that turned Republican in the Reagan wave but did not become a conservative. He became a big government Republican. He had his good points but he is not presidential material. While a damn site better that Barry Soetoro, Hillary or Bill Clinton he wouldn’t be more than a G.W. Bush redux.

I would have gotten choked up at his dropping out, but I’m still ‘heartless’ from 2012.

Personally I don’t think he’s [Perry] that bright.

Even with the new glasses?

Both. A democrap governor could have derailed a good many achievements but also Texas provides opportunity for anyone to be great.

Rick Perry has substance which equals zero. The hair, the glasses are a metaphor for the shell which contains a guy who cannot answer the simplest of questions on the debate platform

All I need to know about Rick Perry was revealed finally, last week, when he interrupted the national drive time news in the middle of sept 11 com commemoration

Doltish to the extreme Rude. And disrespectful. The hair doesn’t cover that up

Build the wall. And don’t let any Texans get in the way

I like Rick Perry. He’s a states righter and so am I but he just did not have a handle on the big issues. He could not seem to capitalize his job creation in Texas into a national debate.

Its five minutes til midnight in the USA and we need somebody to go big or go home.

Exactly right. When he called the Trump voters a cancer on conservatism, he committed political suicide. Yes, I know he was really attacking Trump the candidate, but he was also indirectly attacking his voters. That was a STUPID, STUPID thing to do.

I actually had Perry number three on my list to vote for, behind Cruz and Walker. When he decided to insult Trump (and his supporters) he lost me as well. Trump is doing all the heavy lifting. Yes, he is most definitely NOT a conservative, but at least he is attacking Obama and the left wing media, something that Perry still does not bother to do. It’s the same reason I despise Jeb Bush and all the other elitist GOPe.

Perry is just another GOP hack tossed into the ashcan by the people. He joins Glenn Beck, George Will, Britt Hume, Dana PeRino, Chris Cristie, Karl Rove, Jonah Goldberg, and many, many others. All we ask of them now is to leave room for Jeb Bush.
