BOONE, Iowa Donald Trump zeroed in Saturday on Republican rival Ben Carson, questioning whether he has the energy to be president, a line he has frequently used to taunt Jeb Bush.
"I don't think Ben has the energy," said Trump, before calling him a "nice man" and arguing that he is not cut out for negotiating with some foreign officials.
The attack came as Carson, a retired surgeon running an outsider campaign like Trump, has surged into second place in many surveys, behind the brash real estate mogul.
Trump, who campaigned here before heading to a tailgate party where a trio of other GOP hopefuls were also appearing, also criticized Carson for recently questioning his Christian faith.
"You don't hit a person on faith," said Trump. "I don't know him. He knows nothing about me."

You are so right. Hillary wants him to call her names for that sympathy vote and his war on women!
If she is dancing on thin ice on the end of a cracking cliff. why hasten the end of the spectacle...
Was it carried on the front page? Did it become an meme?
He soft steps around her. They’re friends, per Trump ‘good, good friends’.
Am I the only one who feels bad for the ice?
Who should he be calling names?
There is always the balance of the RIGHT amount of attention to pay to Hillary.
Fault Trump for many other things, he apparently knows how to pay the right amount of attention to the facets of a myriad-faceted situation to get progress.
Trump faces worse challenges than this. Patience and prayer.
“Low-energy” or not, I think Dr. Carson would be a brilliant Secretary of Health and Human Services. His plan for fixing ObamaCare is simple and low-cost. He KNOWS that the “education” offered to most city kids is a disgrace.
So I would have greatly preferred for Mr. Trump to say, “If I should be elected President, I would be very proud to have Dr. Carson on my team.”
We Conservatives have rightly complained about the Senate’s “pre-emptive surrenders” to Obama. I don’t see any “virtue” in “pre-emptive bridge destruction” either.
Sometimes you need a friend...
Just keep in away from anything having to do with immigration policy.
Keep your friends close and your enemies closer!
SOMETIMES, diplomacy is the art of saying “nice doggie” while you look around earnestly for a stick to beat him away.
He doesn’t have much problem turning on other friends when they get in his way. And that’s even a necessity for progress. Not to claim Trump is divine, but even Jesus had to tell Peter to buzz off at a crucial moment.
My friends, family, and I tease much harder than that.
Trump teased Perry about his IQ (clearly that isn't his problem). He teased Bush and Carson about "low energy." He said that Fiorina doesn't look Presidential. Gave out Graham's phone number.
That's actually pretty mild stuff in the scheme of things.
He was much rougher on Hillary...said perhaps she ought to be going to jail. Now that's rough...but true.
What can’t Trump do?
That time could yet come. It looks like Cruz and Trump already are all but visibly planning to be running mates. Which could be a superbly good strategy for Cruz to get some conservatism with teeth in the door, without having to sell it to America as the main course.
Not to claim Trump is divine..., but if you had you wouldn’t be the first.
He can’t do anything the Lord has not willed to permit, if not bless.
But I ain’t.... remember that.
oh, lol
If I were Mr. Trump, I would be pointing out the weaknesses of Hillary and Bernie and Company
instead of attacking R’s
(whatever happened to Reagan’s 11th commandment, anyway?)
Boom! Donald Trump: Hillary Clinton Should Be Going to Prison For What She's Done
“If she is dancing on thin ice on the end of a cracking cliff. why hasten the end of the spectacle...”
Actually we need to keep her out on that cliff for as long as possible. My guess is that’s why she’s not going to testify until mid-October. If she stays until at least the end of the year, so much the better, because her replacement won’t have time to get up to speed (unless it’s that Commie from VT, who is definitely not in the RATe).
