Donald Trump was asked how long it will take to get rid of our illegal aliens. He was asked if it could be done in five to ten years. That's the answer most politicians give to any question, such as balancing the budget--it's a long enough time frame so they will be out of office before they are held responsible for not delivering on their promises.
But to his credit, Trump said deporting illegals was doable not in five to ten years but 18 months to two years. He is the first candidate to call for deportation of illegals and to set a short, definable timeline. Of the other candidates, Ted Cruz has been silent on deportation, while Jeb and Ben Carson have called for amnesty for illegal aliens. (And Scott Walker has had all of the aforementioned positions.)
But how can you get rid of 11 million illegal aliens, or even more, in 2 years?
Quite easily. First of all, we know exactly where they are. They are not "hiding in the shadows". Their kids are very conspicuous, because they are the ones in our schools who don't speak a word of English. They can be tracked from there alone. The Supreme Court has said that illegals are entitled to an education, but the constitutionality of that decision is questionable, and the Congress can act to limit the jurisdiction of the Court.
Second, once some illegals are deported many others will leave.
Third, once e-verify becomes mandatory, and illegals are cut off from welfare, most will leave of their own accord.

FWIW - this writer has been fairly critical of Trump - or more accurately - some in the Trump movement. I think he’s been balanced overall, and I think this demonstrates it. I don’t really agree with him here, but it does show balance and logic on his entire body of work vis a vis Trump.
Deport!
—— once some illegals are deported many others will leave——
Americans like to carry everything to the ultimate extreme.
The ultimate extreme is ridding of all, 100%
Once mothers are deported, the kids will follow. that goes for Mexicans or Pakis or Indian or Chinese illegals.
If 75% were deported within two years, that would be just fine.
First and most obvious step is to turn off the magnet.
Many people tell us it would be impossible to even find the 11 million illegals living here (or is it really 30 or 40 million?).
But most of the same people believe it would be easy to identify and register 100 million gun owners and 400 million guns.
That’s just the regular crazies.
The real crazy ones also think the government could register and track about 100 billion rounds of ammunition.
As much as I like Hillary’s idea of loading them in boxcar and shipping them home, it just would not work. I have no doubt that Trump’s timeline would. Start with every time a convicted prisoner is released, ICE deposits them in Mexico City. Then start working your way down the list. Traffic stop? No Green Card? ZAP right back to Mexico City.
Domestic complaint? No Green Card? ZAP right back to Mexico City.
Wouldn’t take long for the word to get out and pretty soon. NO PROBLEMO.
The minute the money dries up most will start leaving. The Middle Easterners will be more difficult but as the chances of them being outed, they may also leave.
If we start enforcing the laws at least the possibility that all the terrorists that have come in may start showing up on radar to be arrested and deported.
Gang members can be deported when arrested.
So yes, probably, two years or so, the majority can be gotten rid of. We’ll be stuck with the anchor babies who are of age because even if Congress does something to change the existing law regarding them it won’t be retroactive.
Bottom line, we’ll be a whole lot better off even if we can’t find/get rid of every single one.
Yep, the Constitution actually could hardly be more clear about it:
“In all the other Cases before mentioned, the supreme Court shall have appellate Jurisdiction, both as to Law and Fact, with such Exceptions, and under such Regulations as the Congress shall make.”
Operation Wetback Two. Trump will score big on this issue alone.
But But But
Some of them are not Mexican. Doesn’t matter, after they are dropped off in Mexico City, they are Mexico’s problem.
+1. Excellent points.
Sums it up nicely!
Trump IS scoring big on this issue.
Perhaps the next president can call his program "Operation Went Back"?
In fact, I have for years and I do. See below: but first, I'd say that since I am not running for President, my ideas versus DT's is not a relevant argument. DT's ideas versus reality is the only smart metric. Sorry to disappoint you.
My plan would be: A: secure the border first. Do not let any legislation to do this get sidetracked or derailed by worrying about what happens to the existing population - which is exactly what will happen. This is provably the only thing to do first, since Kate Steinle's murderer had successfully been deported 5-6 times but had gotten back in at least 6-7 times. Thus, until the border is secure, this entire discussion about deportation is just stupid.
B: cut off government benefits to non citizens. Once this happens, many will indeed leave on their own - and not only that - they will be the pure takers leaving.
C: Deport felons as captured. Period.
D: Let e verify work it's way through the system. It amazes me that so called conservatives somehow believe that the same government that gave us Obama Care has given us a great e verify system. It's getting better, but to hold businesses responsible for government caused problems is pure leftism.
E: Reform welfare to citizens. If you think that welfare to legal citizens and illegal immigration are not tied at the hip, you don't understand the problem at all.
F: If these steps were taken, this problem would largely unravel in 2-3-4 years...with no increased government union employees - no economic dislocation of legal citizens - no fuss no muss. Work WITH the tide of human nature, not AGAINST it. Trump's plan does some of both, but his against the tide stuff cannot happen in 2 years. Just cannot.
Once E-Verify becomes mandatory...
E-Verity is already mandatory. The problem is that E-Verify, like so many of our "laws", is that they are either ignored or selectively enforced as political weapons to grant favors to "insiders". The real sea change would be:
Once existing immigration laws are universally enforced...
LMAO nice one!
Once we get rid of the illegals, can we work on the “refugees”?
