Egypts President Sisi has appointed Sherif Ismail, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, as Egypts new Prime Minister less than an hour after news emerged that the government had resigned.
Egypts cabinet, led by Prime Minister Ibrahim Mehleb, had resigned and submitted its resignation papers to President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi.
The resignation, which included all cabinet members, was accepted by President Sisi on Saturday morning. However, the President ordered the cabinet to continue carrying out their duties until a new cabinet is formed.
The surprise resignation comes days after Egypts Agriculture Minister resigned and was arrested amid allegations of corruption.
The reason behind the resignation remains unclear. Egypts cabinet was expected to resign after Parliamentary elections are held in October and November, paving the way for a cabinet to be formed by the new Parliament.

Very big news. Independent verification? Never heard of this site.
Sisi is a good man, I don’t think this is good.
It’s huge. It’s on ABC now.
BTTT
Sounds like it happened a month early.
Wouldn’t surprise me if odumbo had his fingers in that issue either.
This is a rogue government spawned by a military coup. They over threw a validly elected government and now execute their opposition and rule with guns. Mubarak was a wonderful leader and got along with the Jews. But Hillary overthrew Mubarak and much blood is on her hands. When people vote— whether it is here or the Ukraine or in Egypt you have to go along or you are just a military coup. Power to the people.
I guess there was an election next month?
Ditto!
One thing for sure is that the Middle East is a mess.

Trying to bring the Muslim Brotherhood back to power so they can get back to work on killing the Copts.
Well, the people wanted the previous MB sponsored govt gone. I just hope the MB does not worm its way back into the new govt.
Who do they think they are-Clinton’s?
Very interesting. Thanks for posting.
Without digging very deep into this I’m betting:
1. Yes, Sisi is a good man and is as trustworthy as we are likely to get in Egypt.
2. Muslims are naturally corrupt so the fact that Sisi ends up with a corrupt cabinet is hardly surprising.
3. What is surprising is that Sisi is doing something about it - like firing them all and putting his man in as the new Prime Minister.
I don’t really see a problem here that isn’t being handled.
I had concerns about Al Sisi in the beginning but he has proven himself many times over in my book.
Sure he’s a military dictator but when you have a largely rabid muslim population, dictators are the only thing that brings stability.
The fact that he’s actively protected Coptic Christians from persecution is a big deal. Also he launched airstrikes against ISIS in Lybia after they killed a bunch of Egyptian Christians working there.
If he directed the cabinet to resign en masse, it is good
Just a month early from what was planned to clear out the most corrupt ministers before elections
I am afraid our obama press will spin this to make Sisi look bad
Say hi to Morsi for us!
