The Wisconsin governor who's known for taking on unions in his home state is holding the event Monday afternoon at XTreme Manufacturing.

He said he'll discuss his plan to transfer power from union bosses to taxpayers. He said the strategy includes preventing the government from deducting union dues from federal employees' paychecks.

Las Vegas is home to powerful labor groups, including the Culinary Union that represents some 55,000 casino workers.

sweetheart I already know how to write anything, including an Opus. Which this is not. I know you’re disappointed, but I’ll stick around at least long enough to see the “told ya so” moment. And it’s coming. Maybe soon. Maybe not. But it’s coming.

And I won’t be motivated to pen any kind of opus....

Since those employees belong to a union because they chose to, I don’t see why the government should stick their nose in and stop a deduction from their paycheck.

I have never belonged to a union, but health benefits and other services are set up to be deducted. Why should this be treated differently? If it were compulsory, that would be one thing, but that is not the case.

Not being able to opt out of having your paycheck raided by the Democrat Party, disguised as "dues," is not freedom and liberty, it's servitude.

The problem for Democrats is, when public sector employees get to opt out of paying dues, the majority go for it.

May 2, 2015: With membership now voluntary, Wisconsin AFSCME forced into big cutbacks

"Governor Scott Walker and the GOP-controlled state legislature freed government employees from involuntary forced union membership, enabling them to choose or not choose to pay dues. The results have shown that roughly two-thirds have not chosen union membership when given the opportunity. And that has meant big cutbacks for the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), one of the most left wing and biggest political contributors to Dempcrats among American unions.......

[SNIP]

.....Keep in mind that AFSCME [American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees] was founded in Wisconsin, the state that was the birthplace of the Progressive political movement. Thus, the rejection of forced union membership is doubly painful. And it is already painful for the union bosses:........"

....No mention is made of political donations by the unions, but in the past AFSCME has been a major source of money and manpower for the Democrats. That racket is now ending for workers in Wisconsin, and one of Scott Walker’s strongest appeals will be to extend these reforms nationwide."

I’m not justifying anything. I’m saying that if an employee chooses to belong to a union, he or she should be allowed to authorize a deduction from their paycheck without the government stepping in.

Regardless of the Trump eggs we’re about to get in our faces it’s obvious we conservatives can’t reform the GOP anymore. They have an agenda that doesn’t include us. Even if Trump were to win the nomination and presidency we have to have a new conservative party and a presidential nominee in place for the 2020 election. Next year should be the last presidential election for the GOP as a major political party. At least that’s what I’m hoping for. They want us out of the party and we should oblige them. Then see how quickly they’re reduced to third party status.

I guess now we know why conservativejoy has posted so many anti-Walker threads and goes on other’s Walker posts to disrupt.

Yes, yes I know, I post anti-Trump but he’s a liberal.

Employers shouldn’t be required to act as dues collectors for organized labor, period.

Also, surprised that anyone on this forum would consider union membership as a ‘benefit’ akin to healthcare.

I’m just asking why Walker thinks a totalitarian position like dictating what an employee can and can’t have deducted from their pay check is a good idea? That doesn’t sound like something that should happen in a free country.

I’m just trying to find out if that is what he intends or if the article was wrong.

Yes.

To defeat the Left, you must defund the left.

It used to be conservativejoy that conservatives HATED and DESPISED and LOATHED having automatic deductions from their paychecks.

This conservative still does.

In a free country, an employee should be free to authorize a deduction from their own paycheck without government interference. Many people belong to unions in order to buy their healthcare plans, and those premiums are also deducted from their paychecks. What business is it of Scott Walker’s if they choose to do that?

Which is a shame of ignorance, because behind EVERY BROKE GOVERNMENT (city, county, state) are POWERFUL UNION CONTRACTS. It’s a ticking time bomb 100 fold illegal immigration.

We don’t stop illegal immigration, we don’t have a country. Period.

Nobody is forcing you to have deductions, but if someone else wants to for their own convenience, what business is that of yours?

Walker is fighting something that is almost dead already. Private sector unions represent, at most, 10% of the manufacturing workforce.

I guess I can’t believe that even Walker would come up with such a stupid issue. If he has, that’s his problem.
