Pit bull breed of dog should be eradicated. they serve no useful purpose. Their only original purpose was for fighting, which is illegal all over the world....................

Pit Bull threads always have one group who say the dogs are fine and another that says they are demons. Then they go back and forth saying the same thing over and over. The only thing that gets proven is that these dogs are like a gun loaded with one bullet and people spin the cylinder and press the trigger.

Another pitbull adoption success story.

When the previous owner has the 2 year old male pitbull muzzled when he's given up, I would think that's a red flag for unadoptable dog.

The dog was in the house mere hours when the unprovoked attack occurred.

I hope this particular adoption mill gets sued out of business.

Unfortunately there seem to be more and more of the breed.

If you look at the people who are attracted to the pit bull breed you will see that they are at a higher risk of abuse. Most of these dogs aren’t being purchased by the well adjusted family. They are being bought by people who don’t even take care of their kids.

Pitbulls can actually be the best dog you’ve ever owned. It is in every dog to love and be loved. Whomever owned this dog before was probably cruel to it. It all boils down to how they are raised. I’ve seen pitbulls chained to a fence post, just waiting for someone to come close enough to grab on to, and I’ve also seen them rolling around with children. Hell if you smack anything around enough it will eventually become aggressive.

Don't come here in the middle of a Pitt Bull circle jerk. Some very stupid things being said on this thread. And every Pitt thread.

Forgot to add to my post above that I would never adopt a Pitt. You can't know what it's been thru.
Raised from a pup, they're like any other dog. Some good some not so.

My daughter has a pit bull mix that she rescued. Friendly, sweet and goofy-looking with a tongue permanently hanging out.

Until my Sister - who has a lab and had the scent on her - showed up and the dog had to be violently restrained from attacking her. Damn things and any part them are dangerous.

“When the previous owner has the 2 year old male pitbull muzzled when he’s given up, I would think that’s a red flag for unadoptable dog.”

Not so. Just because a dog has bitten people in the past, doesn’t necessarily make it unadoptable. I’ve known 2 people who have taken in dogs labeled as biters, even one that had been adopted and returned because it bit the new owner, and it turned into a nice dog with time.

Wise choice. Dogs can be replaced, never children or grandchildren.

When we went to look at the local Humane Society and animal shelter the majority of the dogs were pit bulls and those mixed with same. I went in saying “no pits.” I didn’t care how lonely he/she looked. Even the little “angel” we eventually chose is full grown, 26 pounds of biting, which we are having trouble stopping.

As one goes further west in our state, away from Detroit and Toledo, the pit population in the shelters significantly drops.

We currently are having trouble walking the above angel in our town due to idiots allowing their pits to run around their unfenced yards untethered. Idiots think the pit is actually going to obey when it decides to attack. Some people should not have dogs.

This article says "new owners" and "recently brought home". It's more than a little surprising that this pit bull, which would have to adapt to a new family and a new environment, didn't spend some social time with all members of that family before it was brought home.

All of my dogs have been rescues. I've always said that especially with rescues, we don't choose the dog, they choose us.

You guys keep comparing Pitbulls to Muslims. Are Muslims not considered dangerous because of their religion and the way they are brought up??? What about middle eastern Christians? Are they only dangerous because they are brown skinned? Don’t get me wrong, people have every reason to wary of a pitbull, especially a stray, but dogs are generally vicious because of their environment. Would I walk up to a Pitbull I didn’t know and pet it? Hell no. The brutal stories about Pitbulls are ingrained into our sub-conscience. As long as there are irresponsible owners and dog fighting rings this will never change, but the Pitbull is not going away either.

Gambling types, aren't they? Hope they don't have kids.

“Hell if you smack anything around enough it will eventually become aggressive.”

Yeah the line with pit bulls is razor thin though.

The brutal stories about Pitbulls are ingrained into our sub-conscience.

And rightfully so, because they've been bred over the years to fight and kill.

I’m not so sure about that. In the article I thought it said that the dog was less than an hour from being put down. Then again I skim a lot when I’m reading articles while at work.

He took the 42-pound dog to his Patchogue home Sunday where officials say Alex attacked his 16-year-old daughter, sinking his teeth into her face and throat.

Great choice of a family dog. Idiot.
