The war started a generation ago. It’s an entirely one-sided war because the Euros aren’t fighting, and I don’t think they ever will. All the real men of Europe died at Verdun, the Somme and Stalingrad. The two world wars killed Europe, and they never recovered. They will go quietly because they just don’t have the moral will to defend themselves.

It's already started. Historians in the future (if there is a future) will argue about what was the opening volley. I would submit that it's the toppling of Saddam Hussein.
