When the Supreme Court ruled by the narrowest possible margin that Kentucky's definition of marriage is unconstitutional, the court's decision was qualified by its assurance that religious freedom would not be jeopardized. "The First Amendment ensures that religious organizations and persons are given proper protection," the court solemnly intoned on June 26.
In the Appalachian hills of eastern Kentucky, one brave woman is testing whether Justice Anthony Kennedy really meant it when he wrote those words. But the local federal judge for eastern Kentucky, David Bunning, has wrongly sent Kim Davis to jail for her beliefs, without respecting or accommodating her sincere Christian beliefs.
Local officials are required to support the laws of the United States, but no federal law requires every county official to issue marriage licenses, which are available in many other offices throughout Kentucky. Even Bunning admitted that "plaintiffs have one feasible avenue for obtaining their marriage licenses" by traveling to another county, so the Supreme Court's marriage ruling was not violated by the clerk's decision to suspend all licenses while she seeks accommodation under the Kentucky Religious Freedom Restoration Act.
Bunning previously came to national attention when he required the students and staff of the public schools in neighboring Boyd County to attend mandatory diversity training, "a significant portion of which would be devoted to issues of sexual orientation and gender harassment." Bunning, who also ruled against a law banning partial-birth abortion, was nominated for his lifetime job at the age of 34 and was confirmed because his father was a senator, despite having inadequate legal experience and an "unqualified" rating from the American Bar Association.

No kidding, Phyllis.
It looks like the Supreme Court majority was so devoid of any analytic thought, they couldn’t even foresee the chaos of the ruling in the many states that had laws stipulating marriage as being between a man and a woman. Whatever reason, Justice Kennedy’s need to be the homosexual folk hero excluded doing his job properly.
Remember the definition of federal tyranny:
FEDERAL TYRANNY IS ANY FEDERAL COURT DECISION, LAW, OR ACT THAT IS NOT AUTHORIZED BY THE CONSTITUTION.
Unconstitutional federal Court decisions, laws, and acts are by definition unconstitutional and should be resisted and nullified at every level.
The Supreme Court is trumped by the Constitution as written as originally understood and intended.
If we had an opposition party, of if the Republican Congress has any male hormones, she could be out of jail by tomorrow evening.
Kentucky Constitutional Amendment 1
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kentucky_Constitutional_Amendment_1
Kentucky Constitutional Amendment 1[1] of 2004, is an amendment to the Kentucky Constitution that makes it unconstitutional for the state to recognize or perform same-sex marriages or civil unions. The referendum was approved by 75% of the voters.[2]
The text of the amendment states:
“Only a marriage between one man and one woman shall be valid or recognized as a marriage in Kentucky. A legal status identical or substantially similar to that of marriage for unmarried individuals shall not be valid or recognized.”[3]
Well said, Kennedy and the libs on the court shoved this unconstitutional ruling down the throats of the American people and this tyrant federal judge Bunning should be impeached along with those five.
So an unqualified Eastern Kentucky judge sent a Christian woman to jail for her beliefs.
Ridiculous.
Patent Leather Jackboots are still jackboots.
Yep, McCaskill has to go and Kagan on SCOTUS is pathetic.
After decades of screeching “Free Mumia,” a convicted cop-killer, the Left has finally gone too far in imprisoning a woman who broke no statute in the course of not violating God’s Law.
Kennedy, Bunning, and their radical associates have painted themselves into a corner.
The Kim Davis imprisonment is going to blow up the rat’s faces.
hope so!
Certainly hope you’re right.
Bunning is apparently a gay activist member of the gaystapo.
How so? She is still in jail. Most of her staff have agreed to issue marriage licenses. The Judge is still in office. While there have been a few peaceful protests, nothing has changed. While there have been individual members who have protested or demanded her freedom, the GOPe leadership has done nothing. The citizenry needs to rise up and throw off the yoke of oppression for this action and so many others, but there is little national action. Even on the current hot button issue of the Iran agreement where there are national rallies and tough speeches, the Obama and the Left are plowing ahead and getting what they want. We need much more than what is happening and I wonder if Americans, collectively, after so many generations of progressive education and propaganda will take the necessary actions.
The Gay Mafia’s brainwashing of America through their control of the media has paid dividends.
