The Steelers continue to face backlash over the team's decision to sign Michael Vick.
The Animal Rescue League has decided to move one of its biggest events away from Heinz Field because Vick's now on the roster.
The ARL was going to hold its 16th annual Paws Prints Gala at Heinz, but the group decided to move the Oct. 31 event to Pittsburgh's CONSOL Energy Center instead because of the Vick signing.
"While we understand that Mr. Vick has made an effort to atone for his past mistakes and has worked to help strengthen animal abuse laws, we do not believe that it is appropriate for him to continue a high-profile and influential public career," the ARL said in a statement.
Back in 2007, Vick was sentenced to 23 months in a federal prison for running a dogfighting ring in Virginia. Vick served 21 months of the sentence in a Kansas prison before spending the final two months under home confinement.

Vick served his time in the big house ... lost hundreds of millions in salary and endorsements ... was cut out of several years in a short career ... and is still being persecuted by libtards. Why isn't Black Lives Matter for stopping this garbage and letting the man get on with his life?
“Originally, a sales tax increase was proposed to fund three projects: Heinz Field, PNC Park, and an expansion of the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. After the rejection of this proposal in a referendum, the city developed Plan B. Similarly controversial, the alternative proposal was labeled Scam B by opponents. The Steelers’ pledge toward the new stadium was criticized for being too little, even after it was raised from $50 million to $76.5 million.Other local government members criticized the $281 million of public money allocated for Plan B. One member of the Allegheny Regional Asset District board called the use of tax dollars “corporate welfare”. The plan, totaling $809 million, was approved by the Allegheny Regional Asset District board on July 9, 1998, with $233 million allotted for Heinz Field. Shortly after Plan B was approved, the Steelers made a deal with Pittsburgh city officials to stay in the city until at least 2031. The total cost of Heinz Field was $281 million.”
So they have misaimed their wrath at the taxpayers of Pittsburgh, not the football team.
Like it's a feather to stick in their stupid little dunce hat?
Ridiculous.
Agreed. In fact I’m somewhat indifferent to animal fights or animal human fights; i.e. Bullfighting.
I’m not a big Vic fan but this does raise some questions.
The Libs fight to get ever criminal a lighter sentence.
They don’t want the death penalty.
They don’t want gang members rousted.
A police officer gets beaten, then shoots a guy, and the Libs promote riots.
Terry Schiavo?
Killing the unborn? Hey no problem there.
Selling dead baby body parts? Ahhh... no, no problem there.
Dog fights? Now we’re talking death penalty.
Oh it’s not the actual death penalty, but death to any life where you can make a decent income.
Gosh these are some forgiving folks, as long as there is some genocide involved.
If some living human had been killed or maimed, Vic would have skated.
Sounds like the Left is persecuting Michael Vick because they think he’s “a darkie”, and they’re closeted racists, like the Lefty-In-Chief.
This is what “Social Justice Warriors” are, and why they need to be curbstomped.
He was pitiful for the Jets—
I’m skeptical that Vick has truly reformed but the man does own a dog who is by all indications a loved and cared for member of the family. He even does public service ads for the Humane Society. These groups would be better served putting energy into stopping true animal abuse which unfortunately there is no shortage of than continuing to hound a single individual.
Another question: Have these wetbacks EVER protested outside an abortion slaughter-salon?
Michael Vick paid his dues.
liberal political correctness gone amok AGAIN
I was wondering about whether the gesture would affect the intended target. Thanks for providing the answer.
“He even does public service ads for the Humane Society.”
“the Humane Society” that he does ads for is an animal rights group. ....i.e. a group that wants to kill domestic animals.
Groups that actually care for animals are right in boycotting the Steelers.
