he Rev. James Linzey, a retired Army chaplain and vocal leader among some conservative Evangelicals, sums up his ardent support for Donald Trump with a simple observation:
Because he tells it like it is, and he exudes honesty and transparency, and that hes the kind of person who is not going to deceive us, says Reverend Linzey, who now heads the Military Bible Association in Escondido, Calif., and who publicly endorsed the Manhattan billionaire on Thursday. Evangelicals are tired of being deceived by wolves in sheeps clothing.
Indeed, even as the evangelical minister praises Mr. Trump as someone with the teeth to lead, his support for the nominal Presbyterian, who has been married three times and has said he doesnt really ask God for forgiveness when he does something wrong, expresses as much Linzeys deep-seated frustration with the GOP after watching the country change in ways he finds unsettling.
The Republican party has failed to take care of even one major issue that concerns conservatives and Evangelicals over the past many years, Linzey says. And if we can get a candidate that will tackle at least one major issue, that alone will be an accomplishment for the Republican Party, he says, referring to illegal immigration, Trumps signature issue so far.

Who do people like?
I’ll see if I can find some older ones for you tomorrow...will Freepmail you with results.
About 1/2 like Trump, the other spread across Cruz, Rubio and Walker.
Occasionally Carson. Even heard one say Bush.
i’m hearing a dull thud
imho there are lots of evangelicals who are RINOS
Among my church friends on FB, most are for Trump with the rest divided among Huck, Cruz, and Carson. I have not seen any support for Bush and the rest.
As a general self-imposed rule, I don't speak of politics while at church.
I did however have dinner last night with a few of the guys at our church who've been around awhile and Donald Trump's name came up (not by me.)
All said they were voting for, or seriously considering voting for Trump. One is a dyed in the wool Electricians Union member who said he's going to vote Trump.
I listened more than I spoke last night, so when my Union member friend said he was voting Trump I asked him what the sentiment was with the rank and file union members.
"50-50" he responded. Fifty percent they were going to vote Trump and the other fifty percent said they were considering voting for Trump.
When Hillary's name came up, it was a resounding "that lying b**ch will never sit in the White House."
I still think it's way too early (at least for me..) to pick a candidate but I'll say this: Trump's got alot of people talking and I've yet to hear anyone say that Trump doesn't speak for them.
That's how broad and deep the hatred and distrust for the professional political class is right now. I don't see that getting better anytime soon.
The most beautiful sound, union members seeing it for what it is.
That was as cut and dry "that lying b**ch will never sit in the White House" as it gets. Lasted all of about 1-2 minutes. ZERO discussion about her afterwards.
I hope that's a good sign going forward, and that it STICKS too.
I was pleasantly surprised to hear four of my conservative church friends, two couples, say they’re excited about Trump. Another couple was not ready to commit. A third lady wanted to wait and see.
It is a new crop of "Reagan democrats"

Just about everyone in my extended family is going for Trump.
I mention Cruz and they say, “who?” “Oh, yeah, he’s good too.”
If I try to explain why Cruz is better than Trump I have about a 20 second window before they lose interest.
I have a feeling he is going to draw Democrats to cross over in the general election. I don’t think anyone is excited about voting for Biden or Clinton either one. If that happens, Trump wins big.
Absolutely agree, and predicted it when Trump announced. "Make America Great Again" is resonating across all political, geographic and income bands.
I think people are just sick and damn' tired of the a**hole in the White House constantly running America down. The more Obama does that and the milquetoast Boehner and McConnell don't respond to it, the more Trump seems to pick up steam.
Have you read the Breitbart stories about the Bush strategy for winning the Republican primary? Rubio is one of those who are supposed to be working with Jeb to take away votes from non Jebites like Cruz. Excellent analysis. I think he is right on the money.
Huckabee is supposed to be covering for Jeb to take some of the Evangelical voters.
I just do not care for him. Do not know why.
Im hearing resounding peels of laughter...,and then a chorus of polite nos.
I’m for Cruz.
And yet. He’s inside the box. He acts like a “candidate.”
