Ex-NFL Player Made Some Damning Allegations Against Officer Who Pulled Him Over — So Police Released

A Texas police organization is demanding an apology from a former NFL player who reportedly claimed on social media that a cop put a gun to his face during a recent traffic stop — but the Pearland Police Officer’s Association said that dashcam footage shows the officer acting properly.

The group claims that Lamar Lathon, 47, a linebacker who played for the Houston Oilers and the Carolina Panthers, lied about what unfolded in a Facebook post in which the former NFL player said that he was terrified and that he feared for his life, KHOU-TV reported.

Footage from the September 1 incident, which was posted to the Pearland Police Department’s Facebook page on Thursday in an effort to dispel claims that the officer acted improperly, shows a cop pulling Lathon over for going 65 mph in a 50 mph area before asking for his license.

The demand that all LEOs be videographed at all times predictably falls under the heading of “careful what you wish for” for the criminal element.

who reportedly claimed on social media

Would it be too much trouble for the author to go to social media and verify whether the claim was made????

Either he said it, or he didn't.

And this is why both law enforcement and the public should want police officers to record all of their actions involving the public. It protects both the public and the police.

The PD in my city has dash and body cams. They seem to like it quite well, as it protects them in incidents like this. One story I heard was that a citizen was alleging one of our cops was cussing at him during a traffic stop, and did so in front of the judge during traffic court in a very huffy manner. Apparently the guy’s expression and demeanor changed markedly and immediately when the cop said “judge, I’d like to present this bodycam video of our interaction . . . “

Of course, it was the citizen who was cussing out the cop, and the cop was shown to be very professional.

Yeah, that guy didn’t get off light.

Looks like it was Pearland’s week to make the news. Our young men placed third in the Little League Baseball World Series and a former football player thought he could get by with lying about our policemen.

What surprises me most is that this guy could even drive anywhere in our city at that speed except maybe on 288 at 9 a.m. on Saturday because of all the traffic. Our cops are great guys. This guy was a jerk and should just pay his ticket. We need the revenue.

Thank God for dash and body camers. The left has been screaming for them since those little black boys were murdered by the awful jack booted police thugs. Pretty soon, the same liberals will be demandng that police not be allowed to film because it violates the "rights" of the poor misunderstood kids...

Typical “FTP” attitude that is so prevalent in the aggrieved demographic. It has and will continue to get them killed.

Traffic stop protocol needs to be taught in school because it damn sure isn’t being taught at home. In fact, the exact opposite is being taught.

Don’t reach for anything until the officer tells you to and explain where it is.

Don’t argue the merits of the traffic stop roadside. It never works. That is what court is for.

Veiled threats are being listened for and will be responded to accordingly. Don’t make them.

FWIW, every pro football player I have ever dealt with roadside had a gun. Why? Because they all have a lot of money and jewelry. Just look at this guy with that Mercedes Benz. Any hood rat would love to have that car.

I know a cop here in NJ who was saved by his microphone when unassimilated savages made an allegation against him during a traffic stop; they had probably lived near missionaries at some point, because they understood that filing a police report could land them in trouble if they were proven to be lying, so they just mentioned it verbally in the police station. When the officer in charge informed them that the whole conversation had been recorded, the animals simply let it drop (and paid their ticket like adult Americans).

You’re right; people (at least in courtrooms) are going to see animal behavior that our media has been hiding for years now...

The cops should let it go one step further and then prosecute the liar for making false statement to the police...
